Also is there any real story to it, or is it just a "jump in and have fun" type of experience, with cool visuals and audio to go with it?
There seems to be quite some story because there´s a bigger intro at the beginning. NPCs tell you what happend to them via pictures, there are also cutscenes from time to time. But since everything is explained via pictures and visuals and not by text, it´s more up to the player to find out what´s going on in that world. Makes it maybe a bit hard to understand, but also mysterious and kinda foreign, which I like.
Yeh, metroid/zelda hybrid comes pretty close, best description I´ve heard so far was zelda/dark souls, since combats are fast paced and unforgiving and are based on a lot of dodging. There´s also a neat upgrade system which gives you new combat moves/weapons etc.

loginEDIT: I just finished it. It´s short, but good; pretty much what I´ve been expecting. 18€ may be a bit too high for that length, so I´d say put it on your wishlist and wait for the next sale. I needed 9 hours to finish it, but I also kinda rushed through the game yesterday and today. I didn´t bother to look for all keys, secret areas, outfits and weapons (there´s also new game+ once you´ve finished the game).
