I don't get my shiny badge until the 29th of November, but I've been on steam since 2003.

ten years and they still use I.E.  What a shame.

My bro has my original account (will be 10 years on Sept 20th)...I held out on Steam for a long time, CS 1.5 was better than 1.6 by far, and CS:Source sucked dick.

Steam was dumb back in the early days, and it helped fuck up Counter-Strike by not allowing servers to be in charge of version control.  Weekly updates that change game mechanics are not a good way to creating a great game.  Also steam just added another application layer between your computer and the server (i.e. another running process that you didn't need for connecting to servers previously).

The past large version changes were much better, as the servers and community had more say in whether the changes were good or bad.  When CS 1.4 came out, it was a flop and VALVe almost immediately released 1.5.  Servers went from 1.3, to 1.4, back to 1.3.  Then when 1.5 came out, some went to 1.5, some stayed on 1.3.

CS 1.5 was the best CS version ever.

I held out (apparently only 8 days, thought it was more like months) after STEAM came out, and that was the difference between a 4 digit and 6 digit STEAMID.

CS was a shit game then, is a shit game now, and will always be a shit game, and if that is the reason for your ten years of steam, you are also full of shit.

Ahh, nostalgic Steam interface.

Ricochet sucked, CS was awesome, even in it's diminished state in 1.6

Playing the betas in late 1999 for CS was literally revolutionary for it's time.  Such an amazing game.

I liked almost all of the free mods you could download just by having HL (at least early on).

These games were free because I had HL and were awesome:

CS
TFC
DOD
Opposing Force (the TDM capture the flag mode)
Firearms
Frontline Force

Forgetting a lot more that I've played for free over the years that were awesome.
