My bro has my original account (will be 10 years on Sept 20th)...I held out on Steam for a long time, CS 1.5 was better than 1.6 by far, and CS:Source sucked dick.

Weekly updates that change game mechanics are not a good way to creating a great game. Also steam just added another application layer between your computer and the server (i.e. another running process that you didn't need for connecting to servers previously).
The past large version changes were much better, as the servers and community had more say in whether the changes were good or bad. When CS 1.4 came out, it was a flop and VALVe almost immediately released 1.5. Servers went from 1.3, to 1.4, back to 1.3. Then when 1.5 came out, some went to 1.5, some stayed on 1.3.
CS 1.5 was the best CS version ever.
