The town I live in has a series of connected canals, and even though it's always very nice out here on the Washington coast, we still get these huge fucking swarms of mosquitos and other tiny airborne insects. I can't even go for a run during the summer time on the streets because there's huge clouds of insects in the way. More than once have I had to blow a mosquito or two out of my nose.
Goddamn pests.
They (along with various types of gnats &c.) have a tendency of kamikaze diving into every available orifice during the summer months (Georgia) here. It makes doing anything outdoors a pain.
No they are not. For me, mosquitoes are the worst creatures on earth, next to bacteria and viruses. They are so damn annoying. Today I was in the forest and damn flies and mosquitoes ruined my fun all the time.
Cockroaches are nasty but they are aware of their "good looks" so they tend to stay hidden and don't bother others most of the time. Also, cockroaches are survivors. They can survive in extremely harsh conditions. They are also ancient creatures.
Man, I wish they hid here. They're in the open. All the time. I was lived with a shitty room mate in an apartment block that had gone past it's fumigation date. The cockroaches there would scurry straight for your food as you were attempting to cook and eat it. I haven't encountered anything quite so horrendous, but man, they do seem to show up at least once a day here- which I know means the apartment is probably crawling with them. Then again, all sorts of insects seem to find their way in here. I tried patching up any hole I could find with dry wall, but there's still crickets, centipedes, millipedes, various types of beetles, and shit just lollygagging around my floor.
Roaches seem to be the most numerous, though. It's driving me crazy. I might have to get my landlord to fumigate this place, but where would my neighbors stay, you know?
