give the strat map more places of strategic interest

would be nice to see troops and gear need resources found only in distinct locations throughout the map.  introducing the need of

forrests for wood  wooden weapons
mountains for stones  maintenance of castles etc
mines for metalworks
capturable/deployable hunting posts within the map for food  troop maintenance
villages that specialize on producing food or trade or whatever,  depending on what is needed
sea shores for fish  troop maintenance
two slaves markets in desert and nordland
horses from the stepps are different from horses in rhodok lands, blablabla

whatever,  sth like that.  point is to create the need to conquer and hold key positions and/or the necessity to trade in between factions,  even if not friendly ones.
would also give a new meaning to raiding.

all resources should be available in a very slow growing state all over,  so people can produce small amounts anywhere,  but the key sections should be... key.

ye i was thinking minifiefs or just have them associated with an existing village,  so the village would in effect be producing the shit.

Would work as well, just don't put it on towns and castles, enough 10k+ fiefs on the map already

And gives defending villages a purpose :P (current state, you at war? Empty all villages :P Just check desert, dhirim, kapi's)

This is actually a very good suggestion. Making settlements different was always the thing they should have done in singleplayer warband, long long ago.

All things considering, I think we need a holy city that is in the desert. So templars will call for a crusade. From what I've seen, they'd certainly do that.

They should add S&D to items as well so that Towns and Castles are even more relevant.

And roads that boost travel speed would also be good. Make it a damn good bonus as well.

Yeah especially for brigands. That means you'll have to provide patrols and other security precautions as a faction owner.

I don't think we need this many, I think the main thing is to have something perishable out side of fiefs (at least castles and towns). As little as one thing would be sufficient (such as castle herds moving across the map) you have to capture an animal for food (same method of attacking someone in the open field, maybe even include the 24 hours waiting time to process the animals).

If you add too many smaller factions/solo players may be discouraged from trying to compete.

But over-all a great idea +1

An expanded crafting mechanic and greater emphasis on logistics could be interesting and if done properly would solve the problem of ubiquitous plate armies. Although at the same time it may give too much of an advantage to bigger, more powerful factions if they can monopolize the most useful resources/best equipment.

It would also be nice if there was some way to actively recruit troops rather than passively farming them, so that smaller but more active factions would actually have a way to stand up to bigger factions that just have a lot of inactive troop farmers supplying them. Maybe something like the 'recruit volunteers' option in single player, but with the number of recruits being a function of population. Or something like that, idk.

actually it wouldnt be about micro management at all,  but about the need of holding key points of the map,  or trading with people holding them.

automated caravans from production plants to factories would actually even allow real banditing,  there would be few places where cool things can be bought,  making trading relations etc a real thing,  i.e. if you want a strong army,  you need to rely on people all over the map,  who cant possibly all be allied with you.
