Sidearm Shield Breaking Axe: What do you think is the best choice?

Using the Long Axe is a complete no brainer if you only have pole wpf. A 2h weapon with 0 wpf is never going to be better than a polearm with whatever wpf you have. 15% damage per 100 wpf, 6,5% swing speed increase per a 100 wpf. You only do a 100% damage at a 100 effective wpf. Let's say you have a 100 effective wpf in polearm:

Long Axe = 41c x 1,00 = 41c effective damage
Two Handed War Axe = 43c x 0,85 = 36,55c effective damage

Long Axe with it's beastly 41c at 97 speed is probably the best weapon in the game when it comes to fighting and destroying shields. That shit is fast. It is 4k more money, but I'd rather fight a shielder with a War Spear (that you probably have +3) than an unloomed 2h axe without wpf.

I think that's good for you then, I prefer the polearm axes over the 2h's myself.  The Long Axe really is a no brainer if you look at the stats (at least IMO).  You're giving up some length and damage (but still good length compared to most weapons, and still has 40 cut damage), but the main selling point is the 97 speed on a 115 length/40 cut weapon (stats are off the top of my head, so probably a little off).

Gotta agree with the people suggesting the Long Axe (but take a look at the other 2 slot pole-axes, there's at least 4 really nice ones, and the Long Bardiche is a beast as well)

You can't lolstab with it. We who don't care use it whenever the need arises.

Bad shielders will easily fall prey to fients/holds/kicks, so you don't need to break their shields anyway.

Good shielders will either put their shield on their back if you whip out an axe, or let you break their shield then block fine anyway.

You are better off just using your spear all the time. Speaking as someone with like 140 mil of XP as a shielder, an instastabbing spear user is way harder to fight than an axe/poleaxe user.

That said, Long Bardiche is a devastating weapon in any circumstance. I don't know why it isn't more commonly used.

Probably the length. 115 reach puts it under even the shortened spear.

The long bardiche is pretty epic! It does ALOT of damage with good speed and its not unbalanced.

I advise long axe its fast. break the shield and get a hit during the short stun period.

If not why not get a poleaxe and combine spear and axe? (upkeep)
