Yeah this is incorrect.  Orient is a term dating before the middle ages. It essentially means east of the known world, primarily the Levant, Egypt and Arabia. It has it's stem in antiquity and old French not English.  As knowledge of the world expanded so did the usage of the term, it's focus spreading eastward. There are really no racial overtones to Orient.

This whole discussion. It is quite obvious that using the term "chinaman" could only be used in a trying-to-be-offensive-way when you adress the chinese players who are, in many opinions, only leech due to double xp on the server.
Terms like "Englishman" or similar stuff are perfectly fine, but usually once it comes to something outside of Europe, it becomes a bit offending. Nowadays so many terms are offending.
