So is it any better with m+k? Since this guy using Hydra couldn't control his character at all.

Also, is that alpha secured with a serial code or something, or should we expect it to be available to wider audience soon?

I'm using M&K and I'm finding it easy to control. It takes some getting used to.

What the guy is failing to get is that you have to fit into the character model. On top of that you don't just swing the sword around. You set positions based on your opponents positions and you time your attack as you step in. When you take full control of the sword your really only adjusting your strike a bit.

On key board you set stance using 12345678 space to attack and the arrow keys or wasd to move. With the Hydra you can do it all on the controls which makes life a lot easy.

This boof head isn't taking up stances his just trying to swing the sword around like a tit and falling out of sync with it and that animations.

Basically his saying "I'm a noob, I can't play the game, look at me, I'm a noob."

-----

For what it's worth I'm actually liking the thing. Yes it is bugged like the fact that if you point your sword at there leading knee and just walk forward you can pretty much never loose unless the ai takes up one particular stance which you can break by pointing the sword up and then back at the knee.

----

It's not secure so it will probably leak.

just saw this

http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/09/21/clang-halts-production-as-team-runs-out-of-kickstarter-money/

I personally believe this whole kickstarter stuff is nothing more than just a way to play on people who are easily tricked into throwing money at things to give money on something that never ends up really being as great as it could be.  I feel like it all just boils down to a money grabbing scheme.

Just think, you spent 500k dollars in 1 years time.....how!?  Yes i understand your going to say they quit their jobs and are developing full time, but with 500k dollars for one year with a 5 man development team.  you are being paid 100k dollars for a year, which is more than double what i make in a year, and i feel like i live off a very (cant think of the word) rich lifestyle.  Im not sure how big the development team is on this particular group, but even considering that they were on the low end of things and were being paid around 32k a year, which is around $15.00 an hour(taxes, pension, etc taken out) they are still making quite some change.  At 32k a year for one years time they could employ almost 16 employees, which im going out on a limb saying they never did.  i mean honestly for fucks sake, how does one go broke within a year with that kind of change and not really have much to show for it.    I almost wanna believe they just dipped out with like 400k in the pocket and said, well damn lets sucker 'em for another 500k and leave em.

TL:DR, to me it smells like nothing more then a cash cow get rich easy scam for shit developers.

Your own pay is far from the only thing you spend money on in game development....

Kind of what i expected it to turn out as. There are always methods of cheesing a game. And more money huh, 500k spent in a year hm.

yes im aware they probably paid for studios to do animations with, but they seemed to be developing their own engine, and doing near all the work themselves.  So in the end, i still cant see say a 5 man team, who bought brand new pc's and paid a studio for like 20 hrs(guessing) of work going broke with 500k and only being in the completely early stages of development still.  To me it just doesnt sound like dedication, it sounds like a half ass attempt at making alot of money very quickly, then asking for even more.

Before you say well all games cost alot to develop, most of the large titled games have studios with manpower nearing the hundreds(alot of paychecks, pc's, and a large studio rent), and can develop games in near a year or two.  But those also come with the price of quality and development that backs up the large cost of production by making millions.  IE go take a look at GTA5, game is breaking records.

I'm much more skeptical of kickstarter than many, never backed anything yet. but I wouldn't write the entire thing off. I mean FTL is amazing. and I think it has alot of potential for both producing amazing games AND ripping off gullable people with too much disposable income. I think star citizen and occ rift will probably be huge. but many things which got alot of funding on there will completely flop/fail or never even exist.

I think generally the best way to use kickstarter is to secure additional funding for a game that is already in say alpha, so backers can see what the actual thing will be like. problems arise when people fund only ideas/tech demos, and not already functional games. I remember doubting clangs kickstarter because they were promising the world and showing very little.

The main issue with clang is that they over sold how talented they were.  They said they would reach certain way points far quicker than they could and so the product didn't develop to the time scale they said it would.  Furthermore the product that they showed to the backers was incomplete and overall broken meaning that the chances of gaining additional funds were gone. The final nail in the coffin was that they  believed that their front man's character would be enough to secure investment from outisde the industry, this was not the case. Maybe he's written some books or something but to most people he's just a weird looking nerd and people don't give money just for that.

The mechanical failure of the engine coupled with a mis-sold business model meant this project was always going to fail.  It's nothing to do with kickstarter simply a bad team who were unable to live up to the promise they made.
