Email attemted hijack after visiting chineese cRPG

just FYI... chineese crpg its not safe. (no shit sherlock :p)

i guess someone dont like my email address. the reason why i made it in the first place was cus some chineese had my unique name WITH surname registred. back when i created my gmail i wanted it to be [myname]@gmail.com. oddly enough i couldnt reg that address so i did a search on [myname]@gmail.com and got LOADS of [myname][number]@gmail.com all registred to china. so i got pissed and named my current email like it is now. 30mins ago someone in china tried to hijack my email. yesterday i visitet the chineese crpg... coincidence? i think not. ive had this email for like 3 years and this is the first attemt.

just a heads up

they have some sort of forum or website ye. not the game-server (lol god forbid... 5000 hours latency :D)

i went on that webpage cus someone elsewhere on this forum mentioned some funny chineese crpg-gifs and that someone should change his email password tbh lol

no. i know my rig and i know what i download and install and what sites i visit. (apart from the chineese crpg. not sure if its official or what but i just felt i had to give a heads up - better safe than sorry. others may get the same idea i got)

sure it could be a random coincidence. but i dont think it is :)

Do you have the Java browser plugin installed? Or an outdated version of Acrobat Reader or Flash? If so, then you don't really need to do anything terribly out of the ordinary to get infected. It just takes one sketchy ad.

I'm not saying that you are infected, just that it's fairly easy for it to happen.

Also - take into account hyphotetical situation:
1. Someone registered [yourname][1..56]@gmail.com.
2. You registered [yourname][email protected].
3. Quite likely that some mischievous person who has [yourname][1..56]@gmail.com now tries to carry on a usual and attempts to register the 57th email... SNAP - hijack attempt :shock:

IMO - dont click on shit, keep your shit up to date and stay away from dictatorships. IF someone WANTS to hack YOU - you are SOL, if not - you should be ok. :rolleyes:
