Here's a theory on dealing with trolls.
Average server demography:
Trolls:
Normal players:
Admins:
(The crying does certainly not symbolize the QQ of this topic and admins crying in general, I was just out of emoticons)
The behaviour of a troll is variable, it focuses on being as far away as possible from the behaviour of the
mindless slave robot perfect dtv citizen.
As an action becomes more and more controversial the value of carrying out this action diminishes for normal players and increases for trolls. (Trolls can exploit a reward system in the TrollcaveĀ® for every naughty thing they do.)
I have some ideas on how to deal with the nudge problem:
1. Admins should start to encourage nudging as much as possible, for it's in a trolls nature to do the exact opposite of what an admin instructs them to do.
2. Add a new, even more devastating feature, this will severely lessen if not completely remove the nudging problem.
Note: Solution may cause slight anomalies.
3. Give all trolls admin power. This is probably my best solution so far, hit the trolls where they least expect it! This may also solve the overpopulation problem. (Double win!)
