This.

As far as I remember, we never had much problems with griefers in the past, and this feature is commonly lost with what has been already said in this thread. We still have polls.

Majortity of teamhits happen, because of bad/stupid movement or lag.. if someone spams carelessly press M and encourage your teamhits to report him as well and hes gone in no time.

Just keep things the way they are and change the TW limit to 3 instead of 5.

Even if someone is being careless and TWs a lot, its hard to get 5 before the round ends, and they are never truly punished if they deserve to be.

How to use the M button:
- Use M button when you got hit by a friendly ranged projectile
- Use M button when a friendly horseman bumped you on a wide open area
- Use M button when a friend attacked you on purpose
- Otherwise, never press M

Also use M when a friendly hits you on accident because they are repeatedly being careless.

What if 2 ppl hit you in a row? (now you can only report the last player that hit you) Does that mean the first one can't be forgiven?

I agree with you, however it can't be reduced.  The only reason 5 makes sense is because of newer players.  A regular player or even an average player will not hit 5 unless he really wants to, but a new player will need more room for error while he is learning the game.  The system does not want to discourage them with getting kicked too often, however it wants to encourage everyone to be a competent player.  You have to find that fine line between fair and tolerant of new players while still keeping the idea behind the system.  It's to protect against griefers and encourage good play while giving enough lenience to novices.  At least that's how I interpret it.

This thread full of spammers and armor crutches who can't be assed to get some skill and quit hitting teammates more than 4 times in a round

If you think that people should be booted from the servers for not being good players you might as well tell them that they should get good before they start playing. Hell, if we're going that far we may as well ban them from all servers until they get good enough to not teamhit you, right? That'll definitely fix the problem.

yeah, you learn from your mistakes but more importantly you learn from your punishments ... if a new player receives NO punishment at all for team hitting, then he learns nothing, and carries on team hitting. If a new player is kicked from the server once, maybe twice, for teamhitting, then he learns not to team hit.

Carrot and Stick. This is stick.

I don't know if anyone played Red Orchestra or Darkest Hour back in the day but they had this system and it worked great ... if you team hit someone and then said sorry it was usually forgiven ... if you were team hitting people because you were careless you generally got a kick from the server ... the system reduced team hitting like crazy ... similar thing would be great in crpg.

Bad players, often with shields and short weapon, tend to facehug enemies (without attacking) in a gank situation - thus either they let the enemy take free swings past them at their allies - or they get hit by their allies trying to actually attack the enemy. As a result, they soak up teamhits like a sponge. An example of the receiver being at fault for teamhits, rather than the attacker.

This is far too common a situation for this to ever work.

unless someone literally jumps into an arrow on purpose, it is never the receiver's fault, every time i have ever team hit someone i know it was MY fault ... i should have had better control over my weapon, and i feel like a complete Fool for team hitting them.

It is the attacker's fault, and the attack should be punished.

Basically, you have 0 idea what teamwork is and how ganking people works.

Yeah, no point in discussing this further with you.

Just quickly explain to me how me teamhitting less makes me a worse team player, love to hear this one

I will have to side with ptx on this, when a bad player starts facehugging and mad spamming they often dont leave room for yourself to take a hit, they areso focused on getting the kill they just forget the teammates trying to Help and when you see a gap and take the swing it often happens that in theirmad spam they just run right in your swing, following by a report that is just bullshit and a th caused by their own inability to stay calm and justfinish it off smooth and clean.

Thing is: leave room for teammates to take a swing and win the fight!

Cow translation:

Moo, moo moo moo! Moo moo, moo moo moo milk moo moo moo, moo? Moo! Moo moo..moo!? Mooooo!
