It's already active (I think) via the compendium, you don't get it as a separate item

It isn't. You have to win their hearts and minds first! Always try to greet your team asap, and spam Well Played! whenever you can. If they marginally like you I find you can sometimes persuade people to play on after they throw their "GG" on chat. If it's a lost cause game, just defend with all but the most escapey person, who will push the lanes while you are defending. I never give up until the Ancient is dead (unless I have to abandon for a real life situation), if you get abandons I can only recommend you try to micro your abandoned teammate's hero. But maybe things work differently down on my level.

Isn't pay2win. Cosmetic items don't give you any advantage ingame, so do Compendium lvl or profile lvl. So it's totally fine what they're doing.
