To my knowledge there is no hard-coded limit of items in the Warband engine. If there is I am sure cRPG has not reached it as a mod that is no longer in development called 1257 Anno Domini had at least 900 unique items added to it.

Well that's awesome to hear! I'm pretty sure there was an application thread made by chadz for people to get the power to add lots more very nice items. Is there any news about whether these positions have been settled and is it relatively easy for these guy to make item patches?

There is a limit to how many items a mod can have by just using warbands launcher. But since cRPG uses it's own launcher it can have as many items as it likes.
