Problem with the installer? Check here for possible halp!

Because there are a couple of problems with the installer no-one seems to be able to help with (gzip whatever and getting stuck on random files) and for which I created a cure almost a year ago and bothered to create a new version of that crap now since I lost the source code to the earlier one:

Why does this happen?
As long as I (or I guess cmp who - I think - maintains the official launcher) can't reproduce this crap, it's a mystery.

How can I fix it?
Dunno lol, but you can use crap I programmed to download cRPG and then use the official launcher!

What is this said crap?
I originally wrote a C# console version of the software. It's buggy in certain cases, but does the job. I just rewrote it in Java with a crappy GUI shown below so I can provide support if there are problems.

How do I use them?
Copy the .jar or the .exe file to Warband/Modules/ directory, run it, and in case of the Java version, press Download!

It hangs up again!
Retry and/or retry with the other version. Unlike the official launcher, mine will never remove files if the download fails. With some luck you can just keep trying and hope it eventually finishes (which genuinely solved it for some random guy last year I think)

I get a mysterious error and you aren't answering me on IRC and/or I don't have patience to post a reply to this thread!
If you are downloading to a mount&blade folder in program files there's a chance Windows hates the downloader. Try running the downloader in c:\ root or something and just moving the cRPG folder to /modules/ afterwards.

Where do I get this awesome shit?
http://koti.kapsi.fi/elmokki/crpg/updater.jar for the Java version (just double click it if you have new enough Java)

or

http://koti.kapsi.fi/elmokki/crpg/cRPG-unofficial.exe for the old c# version which may be buggy in some cases (probably also needs .NET 4.0)

How do I know this isn't a keylogger
Here's my Eclipse project for the Java version so you can make sure there's no keylogger or anything and compile it yourself if you want: http://koti.kapsi.fi/elmokki/crpg/cRPG-derp.zip Be warned though, the quality of code is horrible for some parts of it ;)

For c# version I cannot give more than my word.

I added a feature to ignore checksum mismatches and a bit better reporting about the reasons that make the downloader fail. Chances are the checksum mismatch ignoring won't help anyone though, but in theory it'd at least let you download everything except WSELoader.exe if that's what causes the errors and then a friend could theoretically send that one file.

That said if your errors are caused by a shitty antivirus, stop being an idiot and disable and preferably remove said antivirus.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MountBlade Warband\Modules or something similiar for Steam users.

/modules/ in warband directory regardless. If it doesn't exist, create it.

You can, however, run the program in any directory and just move cRPG to /modules/

Took me a while to get all the files but works, and let me bypass the stupid ass crpg launcher that always freezes on random textures and sounds! Thanks man!
