crossbow damage is very sporadic sometimes it will take 2/3 of your health sometimes it will take 1/100th of your health, probably a combination of factors

Got shot with a bolt in the arm today and lost nearly 2/3 of hp(did not even see where it came from).

I need 8 hits to die from average melee guy.

Remake that test on EU3 with 100 repetitions. If the average damage is still >60% for an arm shot of a >40 armor, >50 hp guy AND if the same guy needs on average more than 8 hits from a 18 str, 6 PS guy with a 30c melee weapon, then I'll think about bringing arba damage up for discussion.

Just wondering, but you make this sound like you're the key guy for weapon balancing in cRPG. Is that the case atm? You'll think about bringing arba up for discussion if it happens to be exactly what he said, 8 or more hits for melee and 2 for ranged? Gee thanks a lot. If he does that he will prove the balance is bad...

You could put sniper rifles in the game and balance them enough so you would think they were underpowered. Make them reload in 30 seconds and do 3 HP of damage, they would still be 3 damage too much

Also, don't think of crossbow guys like they're only using a crossbow. These guys get 2 or 1 hit kills and have plenty of armour as well as a choice of melee weapon. You don't have to use the top 2 xbows and you can use any melee weapon you like. Use arba and they all still have a blunt knockdown weapon and full melee capability

2 hits with these point & click weapons is a joke, then you add that they are also regular infantrymen too..

I wouldnt mind if xbows require something additional for use. Add a wpf minimum for each xbow would probably be the easiest part and you wouldnt have to worry that xbows get a bonus from it.

If you add PD there would have to be some kind of benefit for it. 14% damage increase per point would be wonderfull, I'd run around with 2 light xbows, 2 stacks of bolts and all wpf in xbow. If you dont want that, in order to make it somehow "realistic" PD could determine how fast you can reload the xbow, but that would result in very fast arbalests.
I'm not sure you would want that either. After all, you would have to post new QQ topics.

You have misunderstood me. It's not like it needs more strength to carry xbow but to load it. You are pulling the string without additional help of any mechanism so it should require more strength.

You have to consider that xbow guys reload their weapons while standing still, which means they are using their feet to hold the xbow on the ground and then pull up the string with both hands. Its not that you can run around reloading it.

Grumbs: Dedicated xbows are not infantry. For properly using a 2slot xbow you need at least 140wpf to have reliable accuracy. 150-160 or above is probably the number that people use for these weapons. Leaves 1 slot for either a 2h mace, langes messer or any 1h.

Another thing is that people who play xbow might be good at melee because they played infantry a lot. But that is individual skill. A veteran with 5PS could beat a tincan noob with a wooden stick.

i can run the game in full graphs but i prefer it low as it runs smoother and faster..

It can, but as I said, impossible to actually play cRPG...  No problem with some older games though.

Even hunting crossbow is very deadly weapon. Much more deadlier then low tier bows with no skill invest.
Still nerf ammo count it solves lots of problems with ranged.
