Derren Brown: Apocolypse.

He causes someone to think it's the end of the world (meteor strike carries a bacteria that causes people to become zombies, general gist anyway.)

Cruel yet brilliant. (Part two will be shown on Friday night.)

Michonne style, huh? 8')

I am not sure if I'd be ready for that. Nor if sword is the best possible weapon for taking out zombies. It sure is cool, but its reach is not that long and in close combat situation you'll be fucked. A knife would serve me just as well, and carrying it would be much easier than bringing a sword with a hilt with me all the time. Running with a hilt about your waist can be hard, and if you have it in your back, you won't be able to carry a backpack.

And what if the injection spreads through blood contact like in 28 Days Later. All that hack and slash will get zombie guts all over you and if you accidentally get it in your eye or mouth it's game over :?

I live on the 6th floor of the appartment. Id be fucked since those slow russian ladies on the lower floors whould definately be zombified fast and try to eat my skinny arse at the first sight.

Id grab my kitchen knife and the long iron pipe that remained from my old furniture and is currently just standing in the corner of my bedroom to bash some skulls.

I merged the topics, didn't catch your post in this one Tenne.

Derren has a good track record, if he was a fraud like that Angel mindfreak guy or whatever his name is, someone would have sold their story ages ago.
Personally I think hypnosis is BS (though pressure points are not) - but they really seem to have done their homework on the guy, hacking his phone, planting fake news, radios playing fake broadcasts when he's out shopping. It isn't farfetched to believe that once someone is in this elaborate situation, if they're not of the decision/action-rich type, they would believe and fall into it easier.

There's a few mishaps though, such as some scenes are mirrored (for whatever reason) - could be a fault during production though given they're weaving days of footage into hours, but at least that raises my suspension.

Steven's shocked look when watching the army broadcast does seem real though.

Some things are always a bit off, I mean when he does his stage shows, he repeats a few tricks here and there, but each time they have similar outcome but with different people, I guess it's something to do with how someone is as a person, as you state, some people are followers and some are leaders, the former usually are more willing to believe and be controlled. I don't think it's complete rubbish, I believe it has some founding since the human mind can be tricked.

Anyway, it's a good watch regardless.

A lot of people are highly susceptible though, just look at the various religions, biggest proof there is.
We watch with our eyes but we do not see, we hear with our ears but we do not listen.

I think this is a great piece of TV, and I would LOVE to see the second part, too.

Why does britain have such nice tv-shows and here in germany, all we get is documentarys about brothels and porn T_T?

Channel 4, 9pm BST tonight. I'm sure you'll get it soon enough either online or in your home country. Derren Brown is one of the highlights, there's no one else like quite like him, if you can as well, I recommend watching a couple of his "Trick of the Mind" as they're more fun than anything else, he just goes around and cons people, my particular favourite involves a bottle of water. It's brilliant how the guy comes back after being robbed and Derren does the same thing again.

Gah, you're making me want to watch all of them again. In for a penny, in for a pound.

I'm thinking about splitting this Derren Brown stuff though, just too much good stuff.

One hundred years ago, in year 1916. world population has been struck by relatively unknown infection which lasted for 14 years and abruptly ended. It is called Encephalitis lethargica or colloquially called the sleepy sickness. Till this day, there is no cure for that condition but luckily it is mostly eradicated. One million people have been affected, many died but those who survived were monitored in years to come, especially children. They expressed strange behavior, at first they went through psychological changes, lost sense of their surroundings, stopped caring about others and gradually became cruel and very violent. There were cases where children, survivors of that disease, mutilated their own bodies. After that they went into parkinsonian phase, where their limbs and muscles became rigid. They were moving slow, having no expression on their face. Their brain become a smudgy over time and they lost many brain function till the day of their death. From what I've read, many things can lead to this disease. Mosquito bites can cause it, for instance.

Sounds familiar?

People who think the zombie apocalypse will happen are on the same level of stupidity as people who think the Star Wars universe is real and people who are waiting for an acceptance letter to Hogwarts.
I'm sorry I hurt your feelings cmp, I would feel pretty bad too if I was a useless no life virgin who spent his adulthood making video games LOL
its ok though, now i have more time to - all the posters i dont like
But I wrote a poem that I would like you all to read
