If cmp wipes cRPG but doesn't change much or if those changes are Strategus based (which isn't something I care about), I will preorder War of the Roses

And return 20 days later when you unlocked everything and get sick medieval call of duty.

At least that's how it worked with battlefield 3 for most people

That's not going to happen. When I decide to stick to something I'm pretty passionate about it but when I leave, I never come back.

You post it because you think they are trying to hold the game hostage by threatening to leave. They might simply be expressing how this will affect them, albeit in a way that might be seen as the former.

My looms and levels are the virtual sum of my commitment to this game. If it is removed, I for one probably won't quit completely, but with that commitment gone, I'll play a lot less without question. Although it has been somewhat boring for a long while.
Some amazing new innovations would be needed to rekindle that interest, but the game has only been turning slower and slower, with more micromanagement and stats rather than awesome battles.

Yes, it seems like they are trying to hold the game hostage with their stating "wipe and I leave".  They are coming out with some large changes to crpg, and strategus, and I can see it making sense to wipe...

I know a lot of people who put in a lot of time to this game would be pissed, and might quit.  But a lot of those same people are pretty bored with the mod, and don't play it as much as they used to (when they were spending all that time to get to those high levels).   So maybe starting fresh (with new gameplay changes) would be the spark to pull them back in.

Not to mention, if they do a complete wipe, and implement big changes to the game (how xp/gold works, possibly remove loompoints, etc) we could all very easily spam the taleworlds forums, and I guarantee there would be a flood of "new" people to the game.  A lot of people try the game out and rage quit because they see it as too high of a mountain to climb to be competitive with people who have been grinding for over a year.  Someone who is fully loomed and level 33 is going to seem like an intimidating task to get up to that level, so they quit.

It took me about 3 months of playing on and off before I got into c-rpg for real...I just never wanted to "grind" to become competitive with the rest of the players.  Once I did I realized it wasn't so bad, but early on, in my mind, it was a huge mountain to climb.

That mountain will always be there however. Right after the wipe, it'll just start growing again. Now, the mountain is equalized by the market and upkeep. New people can get a lot of MW stuff in just 2 gens. Which is not too much playing.

And was that mountain the looms or the difference in skill, instead?

Maybe. I'd rather have the game just fixed.

Right, but with it starting over, people who tried the game 6 months, or a year, or 1.5 years after it was released and thought "this is going to be too much work to get to the same playing field as these other players, so I'm not going to start".  If they start over, it would be an easy draw for those people to come back and be on the same playing field as everyone else.  You can't see the difference between someone getting into the game 6 months after it's release, or within the first couple weeks?  For everyone who left the game, there would be someone "new" (or someone who tried the game and raged) to come back to it.

No I didn't even know about looms at the time, and it wasn't the difference in skill, it was strictly about leveling that seemed like a huge hurdle in my mind.  It felt like it would take me a very long time to reach level 30 or 31 and be "equal" to the other players.  Again, I'm just talking about perception, not reality.

I think are going to continually improve the game.  Whether they wipe or not won't affect me playing the mod.

Everyone here is forgetting that there WAS a time before looms/retirement/gens. If everything was wiped clean again (gold/xp/items) I'd be fine with it, it's happened before and I would love the peasant wars.

... If they start over, it would be an easy draw for those people to come back and be on the same playing field as everyone else.

Doubtlessly cRPG would net new players as long as it's interesting, but how would they get the word that now would be an especially good time to try again? You mentioned Taleworld's forum, but if they visit that, they are already engaged in something else as well. Can we win them over with a level playing field, if their commitment is somewhere else already?

I guess you haven't experienced the boredom after having tried every class, along with strange combinations of them. Yet.
It's not easily overcome.

... I would love the peasant wars.

There won't be peasant wars, level 20 can be reached in an evening or two now.

I am not, just saying I am leaving is all, I don't really care if noone misses me to be honest, except for my clan members and a little bunch of player this community is 100% shit.

I am also aware that the devs couldn't careless either about what I'll do.

As for peasant war, fuck e'm, I hate them.

On the side, keep both of them.

So I can play with my full character and the updated version with people who prefer it and fuck around in the over the top older version. There's also no looms to re-grind and no retirement, once I get the gear I want, I can just go on with levelling.
