Maybe you have no clue what my sentence means because I doubt you don't even know what a hilt slash is. I don't know. I think my post was quite understandable unlike your posts.

23 generations of shielder class? Somehow I don't quite buy that, sorry. If it's true, you sure have played a lot 1 handed generations not to know this thing which has been pointed out by these two gentlemen here (even I know this).

Really? My 1h (when I play it) only bounces when I do something horribly wrong with my footwork.

You can insta-hit with the one-handed left swing (with the hilt), just like the polearm/2h hiltslash. Why should only polearms lose the option to hiltslash while the other two melee classes could still be able to do it? It's not like dueling polearms are superior to 2H or 1H.

Also, if you glance a lot with your 1H it's either you being bad or your build being bad. I don't know which, you tell us?

except the fact the first 1/3 of the blade wasnt sharpened and physics would dictate your lack of leverage means you'd do gimp for damage?

+1 for the leverage argument.  Didn't know the first 1/3 was unsharpened.  Seems strange they'd do that.

I think for the longer weapons it was so you could grab the blade safely and stab with it. Swords were AMAZING weapons in that almost every part of it that stuck out could be used to hurt the other person. (blade, Hand guard, and the pommel itself)

I think the point dread was making, hi dread <3, was that you rarely miss with the side swing of long weapons and it does full damage almost always while also having it's ridiculous range. Why the long spears you can't swing them side to side because it would be too long and do too much damage to be fair (not realism sake cause that games lost that fact on it's creation)

you also mentioned that it would make spears s key heros and frankly yes. Spearmen are not usually Chinese kung fu masters that spin their weapon around and beat their enemies to a pulp. They poke, and poke, and drop the weapon to pull out a sword at close range. And they could still do massive damage to the shield if you set it so the stab does that, unless it's a massively long axe fuck that ridiculous thing.

I feel those are the main points of all these arguments going on. You can't balance this game it's impossible for the way people play it. They all want to be heroes and use their weapon to it's fullest killing hundreds. If a weapon doesn't do that then they don't use it, unless they being cute about using a un-used weapon. Rarely do people want to be support classes and thats why there is so much archer whine that they nerfed bows or didn't nerf them enough. I like bows and think they are at a good place. If you are lightly armored and I shoot you in the eye, you die. If you have armor I am gonna make you a pin cushion then run away cause you are really really pissed off at me for pumping a dozen arrows in you, I'm adding like 6 arrows but it's for effect.

But further more...I... Don't know where I was going with this. Can anyone see a point in what I typed? Shucks I can't remember where I was headed and this is too much work to delete. For the sake of getting +1 cause I'm a whore like that

I know what he meant but making the hilt slash of polearms do nothing would probably just break the whole balance. Weapons like great long axe, long war axe, poleaxe and all similiar kind would be completely useless because they are not meant to be support weapons in the first place. They don't have enough range to be a support weapon. Actually the fact is that 2h great swords have way longer range in almost every attack direction than most of the 4 direction polearms. It's the good old animation bonus, just watch the grip and the moves.

The thing is that you can't make "dueling" polearms realistic in this game. You have to cut them some slack on things. That's because polearms were used completely differently in RL. Techniques included wrestling, hooking, stabbing with the grip end and many other tricks that are not possible to implement in this game.

The point is that everybody is having a good time playing this game regardless of their class, right? That means you have to be able to kill some folks effectively! ^^

Hiltslash is problem.
We fix problem.

Check out who brought up the whole grammar thing again. I think it was your friend who did it in the first place.

This. Hilt slashing is just a gimmick that works against people who are too slow to block it, too new to expect it, or too mad to stop it. It's just another little trick that players have developed over time, like pike wiggling and jump shots/slashes/thrusts kick-slash etc., and it doesn't need to be removed or nerfed.

Yes it is cheap, yes it is annoying as fuck, and yes with current mechanics it is very lethal. But a solution is being developed that will balance the game better than "nerf x because y". Until said solution is implemented you just have to learn to play with it, like everyone else has.

Just put more hours into the ye olde chamber basket. Nothing pisses people off more than being chamber blocked by a dude with a shield, it's even more annoying when you bail on the follow through and just keep doing it until they try to faint and just wack 'em in the face.

Well, I was around Gen 20 when I first heard about "chambering" and near Gen 30 before I heard the term "hitslash" for the first time, really.

I can block both tho, cuz I´m pro  :mrgreen:

I had played a fair amount of hours before I learned what "hilt slash" actually means. Chambering has been familiar word almost from the start tho..

Yeah especially against shield + 1h because obviously the shield breaking bonus is going to be tied to cut damage(?).
