What if we would nerf nighttime by making it brighter? Just 'hinting' at it being night, but more looking like dawn.

That would be a fantastic compromise, anything that's slightly brighter than what the current night is would be great. I do like the ambiance of night time, the sky looks beautiful.

This could be a good compromise. I'd be fine with just more daytime, though.

On top of all the night time, how come there are so few light sources in all the maps. Didnt they have like torches in castles back then ?  Is the impact on performance that much a deal when you place around 20 torches through out the map ( they dont even have to emitt particles ).

Im aware of this. Although, Im not talking about putting 20 torches in one spot but rather putting 20 torches in the entire map, so there is at least some illumination everywhere. Some maps dont even have torches in the gatehouse. Also, Im sure it is possible to find ways to place light sources that dont have to emitt particles while not looking bad.

Not only would it improve the game but it would also be a step towards realism as we already know that big-scale battles were almost never fought at night-time, while on the other hand there was a lot of "surprise dawn-time attacks".

Well said Para. I agree with you totally.

During night time players no longer fight at equal conditions due to some having DX7 and some DX9.
Those wanting night time has always been those playing with DX7.

Night time should have been removed from crpg a long time ago.
It simply doesn't fit in a competetive game.

It surely would be better but the problem would still remain as DX9 players see less at dawn than DX7 players.
Even if everyone did get affected the same way I would be against it. Seeing less makes the game more random.

During daylight I can dodge almost all incoming projectiles.
At dawn it becomes alot harder.
At night time it's no idea to even try... it's so hard to see.

Those wanting night time has always been those playing with DX7.

I play with DX7, and I'm not particularly fond of the nighttime.

One mistake. Playing on the public server makes the game being casual not competetive.

It simply doesn't fit in a competetive game.

Competetive would either mean clan battles like Strategus (and did you ever see a Strategus battle with night time?) or anything else with a ladder system, e.g. duel ladder.
