Who ever has their sword sheathed anyway, unless they are running a long distance far from any enemies in Rageball or Siege?
The word is "anyway" not "anyways". You are not Gabby Hayes.

Every time I see a thread in this realism forum with "Katana" as a keyword, I know, 10000000000000000%, that when I open it and scroll down Khorin will have posted in it.

p.s. and that's a lot of threads!

That's because I love them!

It's the same reason Frank keeps creating them

Anyway, when I first posted here it was in general discussion and I'd be surprised if you disagreed with what I've written so far.

QFT. Can't count the times that I got killed in the middle of switching my weapon out, but it was all worth it. Drawing your weapon when you meet the enemy is so badass.

while we're at it, katanas should be able to chamber block incoming arrows, just like in the animes

You can already do that, it just needs good timing. It's even possible to reflect them back to the archer if you hold the swing before chambering for ~1 second.

I have a bread knife that has a sheath, and if I try really hard I can pull off some pretty wicked fast draw techniques with it, and its not even curved! i think katanas need this change, also, if the katana user has a high enough wpf they should be able to draw their sword so fast that it releases a razor sharp current of air which can slice enemies in half from distances depending on their power strike. a character with 170wpf and 6 power strike for example should be able to cut the entire map in half.

Everyone knows fast draw was outlawed in 1265, because of imminent armageddon.

Actually we have plans for nerfing katana damage vs armor once we get ot make damage types more interesting. At the moment we are stuck with cut, pierce and blunt, so the katana shares its damage types wirth other swords. I'd like to differentiate the drawn cut of curved swords from the hewn cut of straight swords or even axes. The first should be pretty bad against metal armor while still being strong again leather or cloth protection. The latter should stay somewhat effective even against maille.

Anyway personally I think katana damage is a bit too high now. Used to be 35c but Thomek lobbied Fasader into submission. Word is on the street that he got bribed with a cabbage. I don't judge him for that. If it's boot soup for you seven days the week, you haven't said no either.
Do not talk about the cabbage incident, please.
