8 is even overkill, I'd go with 6 dawg.

The vanu max does look like that, the screenshot was taken from Higby's stream yesterday. You can have 3 different guns, maybe one of them looks like as you explain.

Questions

1. How is the performance? Optimization wise. Average FPS?

2. Which sides are currently winning or have the most territory?

3. Are you able to spec into multiple classes?

4. Whats the longest battle you've been in with no signs of progression and mostly a stand still?


Allow me to preface that this is a first build closed beta everything is open to changes.  Balance has not begun really, several things are not implemented and they are constantly tweeking things on the fly.  In a few weeks I expect things to be different in game than they are now.

    Something they changed from one day to the next is the drop pods.  They are no longer a steerable orbital strike.  The base capture mechanic has shifted also, and they added a timer.  I say that to reiterate that this is an actual beta not a demo.  Not even CLOSE to a demo.  Personally I see them implementing a lattice like network because right now back hacking is too effective.  So keep in mind this is my views and experience on a not even close to final build.   

1.  Honestly I'm between 60 fps and 35, but I believe that has something to do with their server settings because its stable at 35 for an hour+ then suddenly 60 fps for hours too.  I don't know enough about servers to guess really. 

2.  As far as winning its kind of hard to say really because with one good push you can get swaths of land pretty fast.  But if I had to call it I'd say nc?   But in a hour that could change DRASTICALLY  I pride myself on back hacking as many hexes as I can when I'm solo.   As do others.   

3.  Let me know if I answer your question.   You can put cert points into any class you want to on your character, including weapon attachments too,  The cert tree is Deep but nothing like the PS 1 model.  hmm might have to post a screen cap of it to get my point across.  But you don't get 1 cert point per lvl you get cert points as you lvl and different skills take more or less cert points.   Depending on what you want. 

   Can you have one character that can have to the best of everything for every class?  It looks like it, but it is not goin to be easy lol. 

4.  The longest single fight I've been in was at the crown  went on for 2 days real time with out a long lull.   The longest was a 6 hour non stop assault by NC (traitors) and Vanu (glitter bombs).  And by non stop I really do mean with no slow downs, just squads of light assault jumping into our roofs and into our sprays, maxes charging up the hill with vanny/magrider shooting into our defenses.  Flanking attacks made by brave and stoic Republic troops.   Heavy troops lacing the whole area with tracers.  Pretty epic.   Lately its been shifting towards more maneuver style warfare with big meat grinders happening at Zuhravan.  And Air battles rolling thru out.  But I shot down a scythe with a  lightning today so that was fun.

Also maxes right now are really really weak.  I kill them as a light assault all the time.  With just my rifle. 8-)  And I've never seen a vanu max with shoulder armor like in that picture.  I mistake them for HA all the time.

They handle pretty much as you would expect a backpack mounted jump jet to handle.   Seems very natural to me but I've seen people that bound around ceilings, over shoot landings, fall to their deaths.  All manner of WTF.  If you expect a back pack that lets you fly you will be disappointed.  If you expect something that lets you make larger jumps you'll be pleased. 

The light assault is about finesse I find it EXTREMELY rewarding to use just the right amount or thrust to get me where I want to go, no more no less.  There is alot more to the light assault that ," lawl JET PACKS!!"  A few working together can REALLY ruin a push and cause much havoc.  Then get out to resupply and do it again.  (can you guys see my boner for the light assault? :oops:)

Seriously?

Is it because you can kill the person inside of them or because you can destroy the max itself? Because that sounds really weak.

From what I know, which isnt much they can create mountable turrets, repair vehicles and I think even maxes.

I seem to remember higby saying in one of the e3 live streams that they may be adding more deployables for the engineers such as auto turrets and deployable cover, via the cert trees.
