My current build atm @ lvl24 for gen 1
Strength 15
Agility   15

One Handed 69
Polearm   43
Crossbow 122(which i regret spending)

2 converted skill points
Ironflesh   1
Power Strike   5
Shield   5
Athletics   5
Riding   0
Horse Archery   0
Power Draw   0
Power Throw   0
Weapon master *   5

my plan is to likely go 15/21 and pump shield & athletics to be a fast 1hander with a durable shield.... And my current set-up is

a mail mittens, saranid mail boots, shahi, haubergeon, 2 shields(the expensive norman shield on front & leather round on back),

pike, sarranid cav sword, hammer..

I like using swords because of good swing speeds and long reach that allows me to go 1 on 1 against a 2hander..

I don't have much experience using picks since i never used them when i played native mp.. But what got me to consider them is

because its damage is a piercing damage which works wonder against tincans that are currently the majority in crpg..

And regarding hammers, what i liked about them is they have the ability to knock down people.. I just wish that i have a better

reach in order kill my target after knocking em down..  Ever since i started using the hammer, i have never gone back to using my

cav sword... I find this weapon lowers the rate of FF and accidental tk currently due to obviously small reach.. I also find hammers good as a support infantry, with you knocking down your opponent to allow your teammate to finish off your opponent...

Like the topic says, i'm wondering which 1 hander to get that suits my planned build... And btw, i only play siege in crpg at the

moment coz i needed to built up some cash...

And should i go 21/15 and continue pumping into strength instead of agility??? I'm wondering if having more strength is going to

be helpful for a 1h considering that polearm & most 2h outreaches 1h's and does more damage than 1h's..

Any insights are greatly appreciated...

Side sword, it's by far the best 1h weapon. And never get 2 shields, it will slow you down way too much.

I'm of the opinion that unless you're going for a hybrid build, you are better off stacking either str or agi. You don't really see a significant bonus unless you stack. So like 24/15 or 13/24 or so. I've played both str and agi builds and think they are both viable it's whatever works best with your playstyle.

As far as weapons go, it kind of depends what you're looking for. I personally use swords a lot because they are a bit more versatile than the other weapons. You can also surprise people with a stab to the feet. Also, with 24 str, a running stab will kill most people.

The shorter, more specialized weapons are great for agi builds. Not only do they do more damage, but with your high athletics you can quickly run in and out of range. If you're going this route, the steel pick is a monster especially heirloomed and the war hammer is also a sexy weapon.

Side sword, it's by far the best 1h weapon.

Which also increases the chances that the nerf bat will come down hard on it. Beware!

Overall though, if you were looking for a "best" sword I would go for the Long Espada. However, the Italian sword is also pretty good and costs way the hell less.

Well right now i'm thinking of playing as a specialist for a change since im sick of using polearms/2handers in MP native & SP, so i'm leaning towards either a pick or a hammer... Based from reading other threads around here, either pick or hammer works as long as you got good footwork..

Which also increases the chances that the nerf bat will come down hard on it. Beware!

Anyways i'm staying away from the top tier 1handers(long espada, steel pick, warhammer, especially sidesword) at the moment since i don't want to spend alot of time on a weapon that will just gonna get nerfed... So right now i'm choosing which tier 2/tier 3 1handers to use for a long time...

If you were given the option to choose between the 3, which one would you go all the way up to 3x heirloom: sarranid cavalry sword, sarranid guard sword, or long arming sword??
These were the swords i considered when i  was sword shopping... The cav sword won over me initially coz its the longest of the 3, even though its the slowest of the 3... And today i'm wondering if i made the right selection coz it seems that the guard sword would have been a better choice for my planned agile 1 hander...

And i got another question, is the knockdown chance percentage the same for all weapons(whether 1hander or 2 hander) that has it???

Swords for more strength builds, axes/etc for more agility heavy builds.

Then it is whatever you have the most preference with. If you want to see what sword is better for heirlooming, check out the itemized heirloom list that is stickied in the top of this section.

thnx for the tipz regarding strength & agility builds..

and i already did checked the heirlooom section for the weapons i'm comparing... and sometimes numbers aren't enough when comparing things, which is other people's experience from using that item also helps in your own decision on which item to choose....

I use the long arming sword, and I think it's great.  I also play cav though, so it's length is the perfect asset.  The speed and damage are comparable to the very best swords.  The cost/value is phenomenal for its usefulness.

well the long arming sword was also one of my initial 1h options, alongside sarranid cav sword & sarranid guard sword... i decided to go with the cav sword because it is the longest 1h weap & quite a decent weapon for its price... the only problem i have when using this  weapon is when i get outspammed by some faster 1h weapons & i just turtle up & try to kite them for my teammates...

i also tried the steel pick & warhammer and i enjoyed using both too... love the steel pick's no thrust attack coz i can spam lmb all day long :mrgreen:... only problem i have with these weap is that they are quite short.. i get killed using these weapons on open field combat but i seem to do decently on rooms..

and right now im using the knightly arming sword & can't seem to see much difference between the sarranid cav sword & this weapon(aside the price), but i'm also starting to like it too coz of the pierce damage..

So for those who have quite alot of experience playing 1handers: is the knightly arming sword a better weapon to use & to heirloom than the sarranid cav sword?? Is the trade off of speed & reach noticeable between the 2 weapons??

I'm nearing lvl31 right now & i'm torn on which of these 2 swords to heirloom first... Or maybe i should just pick either the pick or the hammer... Or even my armor...

This is my final build at 30

Strength   19
Agility   18

One Handed   106
Polearm   49
Crossbow   122(regret investing points here)

Converted 8
Ironflesh   4
Power Strike   6
Shield   5
Athletics   6
Riding   0
Horse Archery   0
Power Draw   0
Power Throw   0
Weapon master    6

I originally planned to go 18/18 but went overboard with my conversions so went with strength for the xtra hp...

And on my next build, im planning to go either 21/18 or 18/21
    * Strength: 21
    * Agility: 18
    * Hit points: 56

    * Converted: 8
    * Ironflesh: 0
    * Power Strike: 7
    * Shield: 5
    * Athletics: 6
    * Riding: 0
    * Horse Archery: 0
    * Power Draw: 0
    * Power Throw: 0
    * Weapon Master: 5

    * One Handed: 148
    * Two Handed: 1
    * Polearm: 1
    * Archery: 1
    * Crossbow: 1
    * Throwing: 1

So with 148 wpf is it enough to not get outspammed very often??
Is it better to sacrifice either shield or Wm skill, or even both by a point to get at least an IF???
And is it noticeable difference between a 6 ATH & a 7 ATH when using a combined 19.25 weight for armor??

I'm going for this build too on my shielder, except im using 6 WM and 4 shield (but 5 shield and 5 WM could be even smarter, dunno). 6 ATH should be enough to outrun any backpeddaler (I am using lighter armor and rely on my shield/blocking skills).
I'm using a steel pick with knightly heater shield (100 speed shield) and it kills really fast (at PS 5 now).
For the shorter range: it shouldn't be a problem with good footwork, especially for siege because there's much hugging there. I just keep my shield up and circle around the enemy until I am in a position for a guaranteed hit.

Short weapons are king in sieges.
Sieges tend to have lot's of small rooms/spaces and the short range of the hammers/picks allows you to swing freely without hitting teammates or getting stuck in objects.

On the battle server however, it's a lot harder to do well with short weapons (unless you have high agility/athletics to close the gap). Most people will play it smart and jump back+slash just as you attack. You won't hit them due to the short range, but they will kill you in 1 swing.

The biggest bonus of the sarranid cav sword is it's reach combined with it's cutting power. You can surprise a lot of people by hitting them when they thought they were out of range.

For sieges:
Axes/picks/hammers

For battles:
Swords

**Disclaimer**
You can do well with any weapon on any server, I just listed my oppinion on which weapons have the advantage in certain situations.

The problem is even if you are number 1 in NA you are still only number 467 in EU or the worst in AUS(number 17)

I'm using the same build as Vibe, with 4 shield and 6 WM, but i stoped 1h wpf at 140 and using the rest of the point in xbow (for versality in Strategus).

Imo it's a good balanced build, fast and nice footwork, but good damage too.
Also i'm using light armor as Vibe, when i upgrade my armor i find that i'm a little too slow.
For efficient damage and style (most important imo) i use a tempered military cleaver for 37c and good reach (around 90) but no stab attack.
The left swing is particulary deadly when you hug your opponent and hit him in the head.

I like this build because it's balanced and good in many situation but you can go on a 24/15 build with 8ps 5shield 5ath and 5wm, for better damage, 5ath if you wear medium/heavy armor is ok.

Blonding, how much WPF do you have in xbow if you stopped 1h at 140?
Just wondering since I might go hybrid too.

@Vibe : i have 80 wpf in xbow, i think it will be ok for siege in Strat.

In battle, if you have a good "x" then you can grab your xbow and do something till the rangefest is over...

I use long espada, broad battle axe, and long dagger as my weapons with the elite cavalry shield.

I find that over all I can deal with any type of melee fighter, in heavy fighting I have a battle axe to spam, and against 2h enemies (so many now) I have a fast and long sword to poke them in the eye with.

Dagger is more to look cool and if you fight the oddball pure agility build you can out spam them.
