I really don't see the purpose of the "ready to spawn" button, just at the beginning of each new map I have to click it off and then on.

Yes, that is normal. We don't support people playing without WSE, but we don't prevent it either.
For now the only problems should be indistinguishable weapon alt modes, wrong heraldic armor background colors for clan banners and (sometimes) borked weather.

Also I don't think whistling for horses works without the WSE/launcher (whistle sounds work, but the horses don't come)

That stuff is serverside, so it's not affected by clients having/not having WSE.

If these changes would've been implemented earlier I wouldn't have retired at level 33. :(

This. I was nearly level 34, and retired only to get the heirlooms from my alts.

When i updated, I realised that one of the steps was downloading new banners, what i think is whenever a few are up (maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow, maybe when some sheets are full, the devs will modify the file with all of the requested (and approved) banners, then your updater will download the file and you will see them ingame.
This is because the banners you see ingame are the ones in your file std_banner_a and so on (located in warband/modules/crpg/textures iirc), so you have to download that file again with the updated banners at some point in the future.

and pls remove that "ready to spawn" box, its annoying as hell, especialy after map change  :?
