People who say the era is rubbish: you prefer mele and everybody respects that, you dont have to buy this DLC. for people who love MM and/or the setting, great! we are getting a pimped out MM, but with support of paradox.

People going on about DLC being not worth it: Wrong-o. warband itself is just a big piece of DLC for old mount and blade, and you dont whine about that. they get a mod, release it as DLC, mod makers get money, mod makers make games, games are good. this is a big chance for future game developers to really get into the business. if someone can go on there computer, buy a game, make a mod. and eventually end up with people paying for it? that is true greatness

+1 to that. When Warband was released it was described (and still is) as a STANDALONE EXPANSION. It seems people have forgotten that.

Looks like M&B devs played to much of Total War games. I like those games too, but theres enough shooters out there. And this looks like you play vs the cpu with bots

That vs bots is just a game mode like Rage ball is for here.

hey moron did you even read any of this? It's not taleworlds (the M&B1&2 devs) who made this, it was the mount & musket dev team.

With all due respect, calling adding multiplayer a big piece of DLC means you have no idea whatsoever of the work involved on the technical side and maybe should avoid talking about things you don't know well.

Is expansion the right word? And wasn't there much more that was added with Warband than just the expansion. Haven't played Vanilla M&B in ages so I can't remember the details :/

For me it's pretty much this:
DLC is small additions like extra quests, items story etc.
Expansion: is a LOT of extra content but still using the same engine or a small rework of it. (I know "small" is relative)
Sequel (prequels too, I guess): Same series, but it's a new engine.

Warband is then an expansion I guess. I don't really know the details about the engine.

No matter what. I really like that they done this and am definitely going to buy it. Good to see modders being acknowledged and getting recognition and more from the developers.
This game isn't about being skillful as much as its about saying things in general chat that enrage people who then go to murder you but in their rage they make dumb mistakes which gets them killed.

Would be nice if Taleworlds could get behind cRPG and Strategus in the same way. Maybe a bit of financial backing would make the development a little sweeter. Or add deadline pressure.

The same developers who:
- left a (known and reported) bug affecting everyone that causes CTDs unfixed for months (and still counting)
- refuse to fix several game bugs because they would have to break network compatibility, forcing server owners to upgrade (gee, what a daunting task)
- promised several things to give more visibility to the modding community (dev blogs and such) and delivered nothing
- are so trusted to develop M&B2 in time that Paradox decided to publish War of The Roses

Thanks, but no thanks.

These are pretty minor quibbles for the game... Taleworld relied on modders to drive game content since the beginning, and has continuously done major work to increase moddability. Are they perfect? No... Who is, but the bottom line is that M&B is a gem, and  supports modders, and this is reflected cuz the game has a strong modding community still.

M&B2 won't be out probably until mid-2013 at earlier. War of Roses is out in a few months. War of the Roses will have a much shallower scope than M&B2 (most likely). I don't see how Paradox publishing it is due to a lack of faith in Taleworlds. If anything they hope it will bring more people into their overall "medieval action community" who will become fans and aware of the sub-genre, and buy M&B2 as well.

Yes, every player crashing is a minor quibble... what?
Of course you might not have noticed because it was fixed by yours truly, but it's a huge deal, not a minor quibble.

It's funny how you speak about all that stuff without any experience in the matter. Try modding Warband for a while and when you'll have to resort to all kinds of hacks to do even the simplest of things you'll see that the support you praise is not as good as you might think.
Obviously you are entitled to your opinion on Warband but lecturing me about modding it is just
