On one hand, we would all wish to have some leniency if we were involved in this situation. However, at my job, I'm liable for my work and effort. Punishment is swift if I err or do not behave to the standards asked of me. My time is valuable (and everyone else who plays this game), and when I have the rare moment to play this game at length, I don't want to worry about exploiters preventing me from having fun, because I was not taking advantage of an exploit. While this apology seems somewhat sincere, in the end, this person wants to play this game. Whether he decides to immediately try to exploit is another question. My prediction is that a perma-ban from one's favorite game is pretty upsetting, and demands one's attention. Therefore, Ricky should be allowed to play, but only on parole. If there is any hint of any untoward behavior on his part, he is finished. While the rest of community (to some extent) has played by the rules, and get some leeway to make mistakes, Ricky has no wiggle room if he comes back.
That's my view on this.
Sorry if it's tldr.
