If we get Muslim armours for roleplaying muslims, I want crusader armours, too. Templars, Hospitallers (both the black coats from pre-1259 and the red ones from after this year), Teutonics, Knights of the Holy Sepulcher, Knights of St. Lazarus, Knights of St. Thomas of Acre, Knights of Santiago, Knights of Alcántara, Knights of Calatrava, or the Sword Brethren.

I would appreciate it if you already prepared the proper images for the website BEFORE you implement the items. And, of course, add the images for the items that got introduced weeks ago and still all look like a white square with a red cross on it... 

This and speaking of armors...someone fix the goddamn heraldic mails.

I reckon they are valid but would you mind posting sources for these three illustrations?

They look very interesting, what for example is that on the forehead of the third soldier from the left in the second picture, is it crobbed hair or some kind of self-mutilation? And is there a special reason or history behind the soldiers mutilating themselves on the third one, some kind of tradition perhaps?


Looking forward to seeing this armor pack in-game, btw, Medieval Eastern styles are very beautiful.

Koyama, would you please also post sources for these references? I'm not at all trying to deny their authenticity but a video game picture and two illustrations that looks quite different is hardly very convincing pictorial evidence.

I have the images from this book, but the original images are from Austrian National Library / Picture Archive, Vienna.

The rist thing you mention about the man's forehead is horseshoe nails, similar to all other kinds of nails, horseshoes, swords and other weapons. The word "deli" means lunatic/mad in Turkish. The name was given to these cavalry because of their fierce way of fighting the enemy on border lands. They were called so because they were out of protective armor and generally the first to encounter enemy soldiers. According to the book, the Deli cavalry division did not accept recruits easily, you had to kill 8-10 enemy cavalry to show your skills. The reason for such bloody shows was to show off their "state of mind" and "strength" to people and the enemy most importantly. The reason for wearing eagle feathers and wild animal furs also served the same purpose: frighten the enemy.

The third picture shows a group of them in the circumcision ceremony of Sultan Murad III's son, where they present their strength and lack of fear to the sultan. None died because of such acts but it was pretty messy, therefore the same sultan banned them from making such presentations in front of public. However, they did much more against the enemy

To be honest turban,tunic,şalvar and çarık were the main things to dress if you were an ottoman citizen therefore i didn't dig too much to find more and more reference pictures to convince you.

Bashibazouks were leaderless , unorganised , undisciplined , poorly equipped troops.
Some of them even failed to buy a sword therefore charging with just a shield and bare hand.
Do you ever heard the term of "Ottoman Slap" ? Those soldiers trained themselves by slapping marble blocks , they went to war with calloused hands to explode eardrum of their enemy when they slap ! Those guys were wearing whatever they find.They had no salary from Padişah their only salary was their loot on battlefield.Ottoman Empire used these fucked up minded troops to win battles without casualties of trained and well equipped  soldiers.Once those crazy guys attack and kill a few , enemies start to think "Wtf those guys kill us with barehands and no armor, i can't imagine what will happen if the whole army attacks ! Sound the retreat lads ! We are going home !!!"Their job was to terrorize the enemy and that's all.The Deli Khazaghand is an Akinci armor which is kinda mounted bashibazouk.They were even wearing wings (Like Hussars but it's more like crow wings) they were wearing skins and all weird things to scare the enemy .
