Did anyone consider that the ancient version of the Mayan civilization merely stopped before they could finish the calender?

However if it is the end of the world, fine by me.

How does one finish a calendar?

I think the guy making the calendar just thought 'fuqdizsjit' and went out to hang with his homies. They had to stop at some point.

Just because some civilization stopped writing a stupid calendar.. people are like it's the end of the world.

What if they had economic/cultural problems, thought that writing calendars forward is bullshit, or got bored of it and tried to enjoy life instead?

Same as in 2000 a millennia ended in the Gregorian calendar, a period ends in the Mayan one
