**disclaimer**
My 'shop skills are low and this is just a rough sketch with incorrect info on the sidebar and whatnot. I borrowed the sword icon, parchment texture and other stuff to use as placeholders for more original grfx later on.
I started making a Strategus factions map today and would be interested in getting some feedback/suggestions. Here's the map:
--------------------------------------
Edit 8/5/11: I guess it's not a good idea to show a work in progress even with a disclaimer
------------------------------------
Here's what I was thinking about putting on the sidebar:
Factions or Major Faction area: any faction that owns land would be listed, the trade agreement and recruiting columns could be changed to non-agression pact, real peace treaty or something else more useful.
Minor Factions: Either expanding the main map area down to include them or making a second page that listed all the factions that don't own land but are active in Strategus. Once they own a village they'd get bumped up to the main map.
Upcoming Battle crossed swords symbols: I put "hiring" and "not hiring" but the colors could be used to represent something else like red for EU battles and black for NA. Or maybe red for battles taking place today and black for battles more than 24 hours away. Once all the faction icons/buttons are in, it would just take a couple minutes to update the map every morning.
With the faction icons on the map: I was thinking about using one with the standard faction uniform as "pawns" to be placed on normal towns/castles and then one unique pawn on the factions capitol representing their leader or most feared clan member like Goretooth for ATS or Goatek for LLJK.
So, let me know what looks better, icons or just buttons. Also, it would helpful to get links to screenshots of people in their faction uniform for the icons. My alts are too poor to buy all that armor!
Thanks,
Knute
