Crafting arms and armor

How do I get to craft  weps/armor other than what my character has?  Right now I can only craft expensive items like poleaxes and bec de corbin.  I can't craft staffs or other lower weps which I do have in my main's inventory.

Although the developers say they want to change it, currently the system works this way:

When you are playing cRPG, sometimes a message appears saying something like "All thine hard work payeth off...".  Whatever items you have equipped at that moment are given 3 crafting points and whatever items you do not have equipped lose 1 crafting point.  (you can never go below 0)  This is why most people can only craft expensive items, it's what they wear most of the time in cRPG.  If you started with a horse, shield, pike or something and lose it during the battle and then get the message, you will not get crafting points for those items you dropped or lost during battle.  Only the items you actually have on you when the message appears will count.

I have no idea how to get the message to appear in a reliable way.

Personally, I have been wearing cheap gear for an entire generation hoping to get the message so I can make gear for Strat.  My cRPG performance suffers but I am making progress toward crafting affordable equipment.

You guys think I explained it properly?
This game isn't about being skillful as much as its about saying things in general chat that enrage people who then go to murder you but in their rage they make dumb mistakes which gets them killed.

Suggestion: specify the message that you see in crpg.  "All thine hard work..."

Yes please!

I ought to get a 'loompoint for all the additions I made to that wiki! Too bad so few people actually look at it :(

Nice one Zapper. The Wiki actually looks useful now! When I first saw it it was pretty blank. There should be a link stickied in guides.

Thank you. My main problems are finding all the information I need, getting the correct formulas from the devs and bothering to write something useful. Still, I occasionally just go there and hit "random page" until I find something in need of improvement and add whatever I think it needs. The times I add new pages is when people repeats the same question over and over again, even with 10+ threads with the same problem in the board they just posted theirs in.

Would be nice to have a Q&A with the devs, though, so I could more easily add to the wiki without fearing I'm putting out false/wrong/incomplete info.

+1 for your efforts Zapper.

I don't know why the devs are not more forthcoming with info or documentation.  Perhaps they feel it's a work in progress and not worth documenting yet?

Anyway, crafting weapons doesn't worth the time spent. You'd better craft good and buy cheap items.
Now, I perma-craft good in a village, sell them 1 or 2 time a day and buy stuff withe the money gained.
When i've enough money to travel without my upkeep decreasing money to 0, I go to the closest castle to recruit. Then I come back to the village.
Right now, i lead 105 men, lightly equiped.

I think that the time lost to travel map is too expensive when you have to pay your men. It's too dangerous because you have to travel with a lot of money to pay your men, a lot of good to sell and few men to pay... If I see that kind of caravan close to my village, it would be an easy prey.

WRONG, completely wrong.  If you have even like 5 skill in an item, especially something over say 100-200 gold you are far better off crafting.  One of our officers has only played for 2 months or less and is gen3 and has 30+ skill in items hes worn all the time.
