Here's two artists that make me want to pull out my electric-acoustic guitar and noodle around on it.
Bibio. Lo-fi acoustic guitar with heavy electronic post-production. Nothing else out there like this.
Grouper. Heavy droney ambient electric-acoustic guitar and equally dreamy vocals. She describes her music as representing the strange semiconscious space between the waking world and dreams. It's not scary, but it still sends a shiver up my spine.
Oh man the chord progression on this one makes me feel so many feels. Heavenly. At 1:00 in to the song is where it gets really good.
Nice collection there, man. Grouper is easily in my top 5 favorite projects ever.
I'm gonna post a few drone-likey stuff, which I adore.
First off Mirroring. This is the collab between Liz from Grouper and Jesy Fortino of Tiny Vipers. Utterly beautiful in any aspect.
Moreover, some stuff from Steven R. Smith, whom I consider one of the best musicians out there.Drone/folk/experimental/ambient whatever, it doesn't really matter, does it.
(This one project of his, Hala Strana, is mostly instrumental folk, and is very close to my heart.)
You guys might know this formation, some drone stuff from Cali. Make sure to check them out, they are spectacular.
I'll drop some more folky stuff in the next post of mine.
