What would it do to have such a yell?
Do you think that would stop us archers from shooting into melee?
And by the way, I see far more people hitting teammates in melee fights than archers hitting teammates when they shoot into melee
But then, getting hit by an arrow is just so much worse:
1. Arrowstun.
It's massive.
2. It's unexpected.
If you have some guy with a GLB next to you sideswinging like a maniac you can just take a step back in anticipation of some reckless swings. Same thing with enemy ranged. If I'm in a melee fight where enemy archers are shooting at me, I play more defensively and keep greater range to try and compensate for eventual stray arrows. (+ I usually try to dodge them as well ofc.)
Noone expects a friendly arrow in their back, making them much more deadly.
3. Most of the time, it's just unnecessary.
I'm a melee fighter and so melee fighting is what I do. Unless I'm hugely outnumbered, I can handle the people swinging at me no problems. If you want to help (because that's what you want to do right? Not just padding your K:D...) then shoot the bloody ranged and cav instead who are the guys I really
can't handle.
I've had a lot of situations where I've been
ganging people and still getting shot by the damn friendly ranged... who then (ofc) proceed to argue that they did nothing wrong when they got you killed.
Also, regarding the number of teamhits. You have to note that apart from arrows being much more annoying to get hit by than friendly melee swings, arrows are also often taken less note of. A friendly arrow more often
gets you killed rather than killing you outright in comparison to melee swings = doesn't show up on the scoreboard. Also, that I get less apologies from ranged (because I do get less apologies from them in general, probably due to this "elusive" nature of ranged teamhits), also adds to the fact that less ranged teamhits show up in the chat which is really where you get your perception of the amount of them.
(Why do you shoot into melee anyway? 'Cause of bored?)
(Also, to clarify: Ofc there are different "quality" shots, some archers are really good at helping you out in melee, but then they usually do so by shooting the guy(s) from rather close range when he's got some distance. That's a whole different thing, what I'm barking at here are the archers who lob their arrows into the middle of a melee "dance".)
