Steel pick / 1h balance

Anyone ever notice the steel pick?  I just traded for a loomed one, and my k:d has exploded!  It seems a bit fast and powerful.  Everything dies in 2 hits.  Everyone is doomed.

My suggestion for balancing some of the higher end short 1h weapons.
Military Hammer = Increase to 97 speed
Steel Pick (and military pick) = decrease to 96 speed

Picks in reality were actually slow weapons (from wiki quote below).  I think this would capture the spirit of the weapon and balance it as well.  It's ridiculously powerful..and this is coming from a 1h/shield player who is currently using it!

The military hammer could use a speed increase to be balanced.  It would help it fit into the iberian mace -> Military hammer -> Warhammer sequence.

It would then go Ibieran mace -> +1 damage=Military Hammer -> +1 damage and gain a thrust= Warhammer.  Right now its kind of bonkers.  As you progress through these weapons damage is increased and speed is decreased, then speed increases again with damage and a thrust added.

Wiki:
The horseman's pick was often used as a means to penetrate thick plate armour or mail which the standard sword could not. However, a number of drawbacks limited the weapon's effectiveness. Its relative heaviness made it unwieldy and, thus, easily avoided. The injury caused by the weapon was also small and rarely immediately fatal. Additionally, if swung too hard, the weapon often became embedded in the victim or their armour, making retrieval difficult.

The steel pick is an item with a long history on these forums.  These days I don't find it too much trouble, but it is still somewhat unholy when fully heirloomed.  I'd like to see it lose a point in speed and have a lower price tag.

The pick is really good, especially when loomed and used by a good player. I don't think it's a problem with the pick though, it's a problem with pierce damage. Pierce is good against EVERYTHING.

Now if damage types had different effectiveness values versus different types of armor a lot of this could be mitigated.

its fast for a reason, its the shortest high end 1h there is.  physics tell you the shorter a weapon is the faster you can swing it

Since when does physics override balance in cRPG?

EDIT:  Also, if we were going for realism, the pick would be one of the slowest weapons because it would have to be pried out of every skull inch by inch.

Well cRPG doesnt have stuck weapons, disarms, shield bashes etc..so no point in your post

Good amount of this game IS rooted in reality as far as the weapons go; length, weights, speed, dmg, etc

With the latest patch, cRPG has the potential for all of these features.  But, besides that, many weapon effects in cRPG are compensated for instrumentally.  Instead of being slow and difficult to remove the pick could simply be heavier, unbalanced, longer, and slower.  But this is also beside the point.  The point is that the steel pick is scary and, it seems, somewhat OP with its current heirloom stats.  Perhaps, like the warhammer, its heirloomed forms could retain the same speed as the vanilla pick while instead having increased damage and a change in weight.
