My brilliant idea to stop people from abusing Respecing

Make respecing cost gold, like, I dunno, 10000 gold. I know this would suck for the respecers who actuallly use it for what it was intended for, but as a ton of other people have said, its annoying as fuck to get horse bumped to death by a team of 5 plated chargers all in full plate. I'm a light infantry shielder most of the time, so there isn't much I can do against them.

a brilliant idea, except it wouldn't fix anything. they'll make like 50k money while they have no upkeep at 25 or so. then they respec, losing 10k, going down to 40k. then they do it again, farming up 50k..

Let's see. Light infantry shielder? May I suggest a battle fork or a warspear? Both sheathable and able to stop horses. If you care about money then use the Boar spear. Works like a charm. It's really fun ruining their day with so cheap equipment when they try to cheat their way to a money victory.

chadz already said they will do something against this exploit and I don't think yours is a solution, as there are still many players using it to test builds etc

OP needs to realize that from level 1 to level 26 is 96.4K... When you respec you lose HALF of your XP, and go from 26 to 22... meaning you can earn another 48K of gold... Big whoop losing 10K.

Every thousand XP you earn is 50 nontaxable gold when you are a gen 1 pre level 26 character... this adds up fast.

Simplest solution is usually the best. Hell, you could just start new characters out at gen 0 and switch them to 1 when they reach level 26 or respec. Then you wouldn't even have to add any extra flags to let you know when to start charging upkeep.

it was a good start but with the fresh eyes of the community has seen the loop holes of your fix so i would go with the idea that once you respec you will have to pay upkeep.
