If I raid a village, what stops the defender from just moving his whole army to me while we wait 24h for the battle, to crush me right after I burned down his houses?

This one makes me thing the autotrader is stationary ;)

Every played single player native, its a problem there too. Raids take time.

Perhaps attacking an undefended fief takes less time? Say, a village has no garrison, it can be reinforced within 4 hours of the raid start, if it is not reinforced within this time - raid successful.

hopefully only if they built some sort of upgrade. Capitals should be the only area seen in real time, every other holding by a faction should have its line of sight updated periodically. This period would range from every few hours, to every 5 min or so. You would lower this time by building advancements in the villages.

Wouldn't that be pretty cool? eh? eh???

yes, in sp you could get catched sometimes, but without some "protection" for the raider he will be catched every time.

Maybe some afterbattle protection would help to solve this problem. Like you cant be attacked or be invisible on map for some time after battle.
Few minutes can be enough to get far enough to not get attacked imediately. Most propably you will be hunted by a bigger army and that means that it will be slower than you.

This will either be fixed by slowing campaign map time so that 24 hours is comparable to the amount of time it takes to raid in SP. Or it could be fixed by allowing you to queue up where you want to go, and you instantly moving their after the raid is over.
First option sounds way better to me.
