Loss of items at an extreme rate...
« on: August 26, 2011, 02:21:55 am »

So playing a large strategus battle, 1 death equals the loss of 5 tickets, right, i was confused at first that we lost 500 horses in such a short space of time, then i thought we must be losing the gear we had equiped in the same way aswell, so if we have 10 players as cavalry, they each die 10 times, that's the loss of 500 horses and the gear they were using, but someone said that this isn't how it should work, i'm not exactly sure whether this is a bug or whether it's intended, i'd like to know...

On a side note, not sure if this has been mentioned, but alot of people spawn without the weapon or armour they have selected, disconnecting and reconnecting seems to fix the issue...

1 death equals 1 ticket. Not 5 friend.

If you have 10 cav players and they each die 10 times that should only be 100 tickets (also the loss of 100 horses unless they live and you whistle them back to ride)

You should not be losing 5x the tickets and equipment

it's 5 tickets per 1 death, equipment seems to act this way aswell, which kinda sucks...

it is not scaled depending on how many troops you have?

Well we lost shitloads of items on battle . Not only horses , we had 100 mamluke armour + 100 sarranid mail coif + 100 mail chausses we told every infantry to spawn with those heavy gear but only few of our infantry spawned with those and we ran out of those. Considering we had 50 players and like 30 of them were infantry we should lose 30 mamlukes + 30 sarranid mail coifs + 30 mail choussess but we lost everything and few of us spawned naked due to running out of armour . It was really weird same thing happened with weapons horses and siege shields .
Edit:
I multiplied the death amounts of our soldiers (From battle details K/D) sum is 1273.
If you multiply it by 5 we get 6365
We lost 6742 tickets on this battle.
6742-6365 = 377 This difference could be result of rejoins (K/D refreshes to 0/0) some of our guys did rejoin due to no equipment bug so i think yes if a guy dies with sword+shield+ horse we lose 5 tickets + 5 swords+5shields+5 horses.
Which makes sense and prevents battles taking long.
If a dev confirms this i would be glad.

it's a good thing for troops as the battles would go on for hours, though losing your equipment at the same rate isn't such a good thing, say you had 50 horses and 10 players as cavalry, they each die once, you lose all your horses, well, might aswell just bring 10 horses and save the money that you would have spent on 50, by the looks of it, it looks intentional, but i hope this isn't the case...

Its called scaling. It kicks in when both sides have over 3,000 troops.

Basically instead of 1 death = 1 ticket and 1 item = 1 item. It becomes x3 or higher.

It works out pretty well for most equipment, the problem arises in cases of low quantity items like siege equipment, specialty armor, horses, ect.

Best thing to do is take more than you expect to need of low quantity stuff so so they're in the battle long enough to make a difference. Or just stick to large amounts of mudane items (like we do).

This doesn't make any sense, you would only be able to have 2 horses for your 10 cavalrymen.

ahh, you're right, it's once you pick the actual item, not upon your death, still, i know it makes sense, but i don't think gear and such should work the same way as the tickets...

why, because your items disappear at such a rate alot of people spawn without a weapon or without armour on the first spawn, after your death you'll check the equipment list, notice there is enough, equip it only not to spawn with it, losing your best gear and horses in such a short space of time could really be damaging to the team...

Most of the difference is tks (-1 kill +1 death) so divide by 5 and you probably have clsoe to the numebr of tks in that battle.

It sucks but its quite possible to plan around it. Like I said, buy extra of vital items such as siege shields/ladders, and avoid buying small amounts of lots of different items. Instead, focus on buying bulk amounts of just a few items.

Interesting, could be a bug.

Scaling was removed from the game. In theory.

Hmmm far more interesting...This system seems helpful actually but if you removed it and it occurs it is really interesting  . Thanks for the information chadz.
