As I said Heineken ftw.

Also. Don't try the Black Enlish Beer: Guinnes. You'll regret it.

It's Irish, not English. :)

Fortunately for you, there aren't many Irishmen in this forum. It's a good beer if you like the dark ones...you can't drink it very quickly though. Also, where did you buy it? Guinness is one of those beers that only tastes nice if you have it draft, not bottled. It tastes like crap bottled.

I am one for the dark beers. Not a fan of lagers and other light beers.

I like Bombadier, Abbot Ale, Old Peculiar, those kinds.

As for Scrumpy, those who call it a sissy drink haven't had real scrumpy. It'll get you drunk faster than any beer and comes in huge glass cider bottles. It's a perfect summers drink, you can easily work your self through a few litres of that in a couple of hours. I particularly like Bonking Billy and Rampant Rosie:

http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/west-monkton-rampant-rosie-scrumpy-medium-sweet/147471/38926/

Best thing to come out of the west country.

Overdriven, after a while (3 years) of living in south west, its a bit tiring seeing the only drinks in pubs are ciders, sometimes with a lager. (Which I absolutely hate)

That cider looks nice.

Unfortunately, where we live cider is for sissy girls.  8-)

That's actually quite interesting, why is that then? From my own experience the cider in europe isnt particularly strong nor particularly tasty, scrumpy jack on the other hand.....has people struggling to find their own arses for days afterwards.

Well it's mostly because it tastes more like juice than alcohol, and we have this lifestyle trend among girls in Sweden that's fairly annoying. One of the things they do is drink one can of cider and pretend to be drunk. Due to this, cider has a strong association with these retarded blondes/fake-blondes.

I still drink cider of course, and if it's the only thing you can get drunk off then I have no problems drinking it.

Still a sissy drink!

Overdriven, after a while (3 years) of living in south west, its a bit tiring seeing the only drinks in pubs are ciders, sometimes with a lager. (Which I absolutely hate)

I don't know which pubs you frequent, but when ever I've gone down there they have had a decent range of beers/ales, dark, light, cider ect ect. I particularly like Doom bar (bitter from Sharp's brewery http://www.sharpsbrewery.co.uk/).

Its too expensive to get drunk off of cider, you need like 10 bottles. Atleast with the ciders i had experience with

Normal cider yes. But get yourself some scrumpy. It's cheaper and stronger than normal cider. Tastes nicer to.

If any one can get hold of it, I recommend the program that Oz Clarke and James May did on British alcohol. It was very very interesting.

On the note of mixing fruit with beer, I tried some banana beer not long ago. It was actually very tasty, like normal beer but with a hint of banana.
It's made by Well's, who make the Bombardier beer I like so much:
http://www.bombardier.co.uk/
http://www.wellsandyoungs.co.uk/
http://www.wellsandyoungs.co.uk/home/our-beers/ales/wells-banana-bread-beer

Ah I forgot to list London Pride, another good, and common, ale. Can be found in almost any pub.
