We've been playing with said equipment since last year, over 6 months..with many many generations of builds.  We know what works for Vikings.  We train, but you must be willing to listen and/or try what we say.  Voice comms mandatory

Oh yeah I know, your old member Relit is a close friend of mine so he gave me info and such, part of what has me interested! Haha.
That I can do, and yeah I'm always in TS so that's not a problem. I just need to start using some of the allowed equipment to see if I can manage it ahaha. As of now I'm pretty sure I suck with most of the axes besides my long war axe, but I'm not poles anymore.

My current build:

Ægis of Heimdall
The Ægis ("terror") looms in the back of the formation, wielding heavy throwing axes and a Great Long Axe, striking terror into enemy cavalry.  Any cavalry foolish enough to strike at the backs of the Norse will find himself unhorsed by the throwing axes and then set upon by the Great Long Axe.  Most long term cavalry learn to fear the Ægis and steer their steeds towards easier targets.  If no cavalry are about, the Ægis engages those who manage to circumvent the shield wall, breaking shields and skulls alike.

(The is functionally similar to the two-handed version, "Hammersmith of Thor", which uses throwing + morningstar.)

With that armour suit your WPF would be maybe 107 throw (try dropping boots to leather), 103 pole.

added Slamz AEGIS build, removed hammersmith build since we dont have very many 2h sword or mace users and that 3rd post was out of room.

Substitute polearms for 2h and you are golden. And you don't HAVE to follow the builds, make your own. Experiment. Instead of 3 extra str, get 3 extra agi or vice versa. See what you like using.

Yeah I might try that.  I've done 24-12 before and thought more wpf and 1 more athletics was worth the switch to 21-15 but it's not a huge difference either way.  The extra 1 PS/IF may be better.

And yeah, it's right at 107 throwing with that suit for PT5.

You can go to the Nordic Huscarl's Helmet and it takes a fair number of points off the required throwing wpf, but I prefer the heavier helmet.


You can also go PT4 and 1 shield but I didn't find that all that useful.  Really only took out a shield for siege, when going up ladders.
