New Strat questions

Hello,

I would just like to encourage all you vets out there to be friendly to new players with questions, because there are a LOT of people who have never played strat, or who have barely heard of it.  Lets be inclusive so all can enjoy it!  That being said, I have some questions..

1. Is there like a beginners guide or something? Anyone want to make one?

2. Do I get to use my heirlooms in strat battles?

3. What do I do besides get gold and get troops?  Can I attack settlements and such, or is that only for clans?

4. The equipment I buy...is it only for my own use or do my troops use it?  Do I have to buy a weapon for each troop?

5. Is there upkeep/xp in strat battles?  Do they translate to my normal CRPG char?

6. What do I start doing?

Here's a reply that was sent to me, I'm posting it in this thread so that other noobs that want to know can find the info.

Please, continue to attempt to answer my questions!  Please post info in this thread, rather than PMing.  That way Strategus won't seem like some exclusive club that only old timers really know how to use.

From Sir_Henry:
To get in you have to be logged on to your main before clicking it.
I dont know about begginers guides, but heres what i know:
1)  Use the "Move (your char name) to..." button to move.   First click it, then click on the map where you want to go.  You will move at a rate of 1 pixel per 4 minutes.  Yes thats slow
2)  Use the "Stop (your char name)" to stop your character moving
3)  Once you are in the vicinity of people or settlements you will see them pop up on the sidebar in "you are in the vicinity of (object name)".  Yoy can click on them to view more information.
4)  To get troops, make sure you have gold (you get that by playing cRPG. 50 gold = 1 strategus gold).  Click on "you are in the vicinity of (a village name)".  Then click "enter (village name).  Another screen will come up.  Choose, to "recruit".
4)  getting a little extra gold is the same as 4, except do it in a town or castle, and select "do some work" instead of recruit
5)  From your character Page you can buy equipment on the "show buy menu".  The prices there are listed for a 100 items.  So if only want 1 straw hat the price will be 1/100 of what is listed.

Hope this helps a little.  Also, consider joining a clan, it makes the experience a little more fun.

While the above post was helpful, don't forget to address the questions in the OP!

Also,

1. What are troops used for?

2. If you attack another player and defeat them, do you get their gold?  Do they lose their troops?

3. If you attack another player, is there a battle?  Is it automatically resolved?  Do you have to fight like a duel?  What if the other player is AFK?

THANKS!

So, i am a newb, i can give a little overview:

While the above post was helpful, don't forget to address the questions in the OP!

Also,

1. What are troops used for?

2. If you attack another player and defeat them, do you get their gold?  Do they lose their troops?

3. If you attack another player, is there a battle?  Is it automatically resolved?  Do you have to fight like a duel?  What if the other player is AFK?

THANKS!

1. The troops are used as a respawn tickets for the battles. So if you have 650 armymen, you can spawn 650 soldiers in the match (your team has 650 "lifes")

2. Not sure about gold, but yeah, they lose some part of the troops, depending how well they did in the battle. Also, if you are about to win a battle in strat, loot anything valuable you see on the ground, as on the end of round those items are added to the inventory of the attacker/defender who won.

3. The battle should be automatically resolved only if the attacker has less than 1/3+1 army than the defender. Other than that, when you attack someone/something, there is 24hours preparation time, in which you can see the battle on your char page under the Battles button. The guys involved in the battle have 5 hours AFTER the initiation of the battle to gather the troops/resources they can, as after 5 hours the stats are locked and you cannot accept any more army/gold/items. Mercenaries sign for both sides of the struggle, the guys who started the fight decide whom they accept and such.

1. Was looking for some myself, as this is brand new.
2. As in now, you do not get to use your loomed items in strategus battles. Tho, in the future strat, it should be possible to craft loomed items to use.
3. You can attack settlements, but you need good money and have some good mercenaries hired.
4. Equipment: if you have army of 500, you want to have 500armors, 500gloves, 500boots and stuff, so every single ticket you have can be equipped. Same goes for weapons. Dunno how the item management works other than i can buy them, transfer them and sell them. But in the battles i been in, the guys got some gear you could choose from, they told us who can use what and we just kept spawning in it.
5. The battles take place on EU3, and there is no upkeep and/or xp gain there as far as i know. I might be wrong.
6. the best is get into fief and start recruiting soldiers, try to join a clan if ur not in one, as its much more fun while organized. And join some battles to see how it works and get the feel for yourself. If you apply for the defender NPC, make sure you are active on servers or website like 1 hour prior to battle, so you have better chances to be accepted.

also: most of guys i played with quit waiting for this shit, and the old version which is up now is lots of fun so far, hoep the new one will be even better !

Thanks for the awesome info!  Very helpful so far. :)

Another questions, if you please, to make sure I have this straight:

So crpg gold and equipment do not translate into strat.
What about my build?  Am I the same level and have the same stats in the strat server?

Yes... you bring in your main char to strategus, with its stats but not its equipment
The logic of war seems to be that if a belligerent can fight he will fight.

Hmmm... where is it? I thought its only the main char for strategus.

You can play strategus only with the main character, but when you check the website for other characters you have, you can see you can apply for the strategus battles. So possibly you can get merced as defender even with alt, will try that one out when i am at home and post the result, if i get accepted to some battle.
