Its been said many times before, but a good archer is about more than damage and kills. On an open plains map, the archers can support their infantry with precise shots into the enemy's flank, disrupting their attacks and blocks and allowing the friendly infantry to take the kill.
Agreeing completely. As an archer, I don't expect to top the charts. I know that I'm support. I know that I need to be able to shoot through friendlies at an enemy to help assist a kill.

Let me guess, you are not keeping track of all the teamhits since the last patch where the slow shoot speed combined with people unpredictably moving back and forth very quickly has significantly increased the ease of teamhits when shooting into melee.

Also, War Bow should be one slot. Seriously, the Yumi is much longer, and it's one slot...

My list is not complete at all since I haven't played enough to have an opinion on everything:

+old faces. Making hideous/hilarious faces is great.
+DTV. I like it but think no gold and no upkeep would make it GREAT.
+new arrow models were awesome (unfortunately they were reverted to the old ones)
+STF characters. Very appreciative time saver to try out joke or different builds.
+ new simplified login and character access.
+limited and much more REALISTIC lancing angle. I know many cav don't like it but the old range was very ridiculous.

-More initial lag at round start is pretty frustrating.

things are more balanced then b4.
-throwing is viable but not op= fine
-Archery is less op= great
-slot system still exists = :(
-All classes are at least doable and slightly effective. nice

Oh noo, no. See my previous post. My biggest issue is the arrow speed right now. I might as well throw arrows at people, and that's the point of putting points in PT.

On my archer alt I haven't noticed an increase in teamhits. However, I really only ever shoot when my teammate is on the opposite side of the enemy from me, and I am always close in (never shoot near your team from far away!)

Well, this always worked pretty well before, so let's do it again.

What do you think what's wrong and what's better in this version, compared to the last one?
No rage, no real text, no arguments, just opinons. Do it with + for positive lines, - for negative lines.
Example:
- Upkeep too low
- Too many tincans
+ Fasader does respec on PM requests
+ Game got more skill based

Posts not fitting this scheme will get deleted, we got enough rant threads :)

Edit: it's also perfectly fine, encouraged actually, to post stuff someone has posted before you. Now is your time to voice your opinion (and actually get heard)
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

+ duplicate items given their own names

- upkeep too high, it was perfect before imho
- still poor horse balance
- all non 13-14th century items have yet to be removed  :mrgreen:
- various remaining weapon balance issues, maybe because there is no perfect balance

I'm redoing mine...

+ Everything seems like it will be balanced if a few things are tweeked.
+ Cavalry is not as OP.
+ I can survive more hits.
+ Throwing can be used now.
+ Skill is more useful.
+ Power Draw affects arrow speed, which is pretty realistic.

-  Slot usage for certain items, if not all items.
-  Heirloomed bows and crossbows (maybe some other items) don't have an increased speed
   rating anymore.
ARCHERY SHOULD HAVE BEEN LEFT ALONE!
-  Unbreakable arena shields now, at like 13 shield skill or something. 0_0
-  Dropping of arrows when picking up like weapons and the sort isn't fixed.
-  Things get "real" names such as the War Bow -> Rus Bow. I don't see the point since the
   Strategus map isn't even going to be a real map. It's going to be Calradia, right?
-  Throwing only takes one slot, while other items take two.

+ Changes. I'm glad you guys tried to mix things up, and I hope you continue to do so.  It keeps the game fresh.  I just hope you're also willing to admit mistakes and revert the bad changes.  I think the last patch was a huge win, and I think this patch is... not so much.

- Archer missile speed decrease (because archers were so OP before?  show me the stats to back that one up)
- Upkeep increases (did anyone really think that upkeep was a problem before?)
- Dropping of arrows when picking up like weapons not fixed
- Renames of the bows -- there were no duplicate bow names, why the change?
- Throwing

With archery, now you basically have to be a pure archer to be effective. It's not just archery, though. Hybrids are almost impossible to do with archery, unless you want to be stuck with a Khergit or Strong Bow. Now it's like there are a few set builds for everything - a few builds for two-handers, a few builds for archers, a few builds for horse archers, etc. The ability to be a hybrid was kind demolished starting with the slots, and now with the basic requirement of archers to be pure archers to be effective. Before, when everything took one slot, archers could be less accurate in archery in exchange for polearm proficiency, two-hander, etc. Now you're stuck with one pack of arrows, or if you're using a War Bow or Long Bow, zero packs of arrows. The only viable hybrids I can think of are mixed melee weapon proficiencies, throwing + melee, or crossbow + melee (crossbow, light crossbow, and hunting crossbow).

Miley, I am full archer and I have all these probs^^  (6pd and 172 wpf with lvl 30 atm)
There was one guy ca 20 meters infront of me and my arrow hit the ground infront of him, when I aimed for his head o.O  It should at least have hit his belly....

Also accuracy is fucked now. If you try shooting over a longer range now, you shoot as if you had 120 wpf instead of 170. Why did I loom my longbow 3x if it is accurat and shoots like a nomad bow now?^^



I don't know who has mentioned this "archers are supporters"-shit again, but STOP THAT!
Why do so many people think archers should be supporters? This is no WoW or anything similar where the maintarget is to kill the big boss for epic drops.....This is a game where you not only want to win a round, but where you want to have fun and where you want to kill people. Everyone is raging when someone else steals his kill, so do archers. We also want to kill people.
And please tell me, why crossbows and throwing weapons shouldn't be a support, but bows should o.O
If there is an archer class in this game then give it a chance to be top of the list like every other 2h, 1h, polearm, cav, crossbow or whatever! :evil:
