Using characters from different Cd keys, Possible?

So I'm new to Crpg, and I had a question that I havent been able to get a clear answer on yet.
Is it possible to play a character created on another cd key/steam account, and then switch to a different cd key/steam account, and play that same character.
If that isnt clear enough, this might be more so. I made a character on a friends steam/warband, and played the crap out of crpg, leveled up, got halfway outta peasant, and now want to play that same character on a different steam account/warband key. Is this possible? Or are characters tied to your copy of warband in some way? If its possible please tell me how to do so, as I have great fun with this game, but don't want to play if I need a different character to play in each different place.

Sorry to say, but it's impossible...

Character is bind to cd-key, you will have to grind again but it could be usefull, you can respec and prepare your new char for the patch.

That's what i thought, thanks for the response. If at all possible, and if admins see this, It would be helpful if that was posted in the installation guides somewhere, I made a character on a friend's account that i can only access when I play his copy of warband.

This created a problem for me as well at one point.  Your only option is to alter the cd-key in the registry every time you want to play the character.  Which is a pretty big hastle.  New character is your best bet.

Just join the server with a different name and proceed just like you did with your first character.

I did the same when I began to play half year ago.

I just asked chadz in IRC if he could switch the char to the other CD-key. (I made a new char with the new CD-key).

Problem with that is, that everybody could come and say "yo chadz! Please move my char Kesh_BRD to my new account!". So i guess that wont be done anymore. Except maybe with nearly new chars but I don't think so because of the abuse-possibilities.

Had that problem before and gave up because I realized what kind of chaos that might have caused. Just start over on the new CD key and grind. Pretty fast for low lvls to get to a moderate lvl now. Lesson learned.

When you use the same cd-keys it should be no problem, you just have to use the same Name.

ok forget what i wrote. It all works fine now on the laptop too. no idea what went wrong when i tried it before but i can confirm it to work with steam if you create a character with the correct gender on another pc with the same steam account.
