Noob has questions (crossbow)

I read the crossbow guide and it was very helpful, though I have some questions.
If you are an xbow on a horse, whats the best weapon to use besides your xbow?
1H + shield? Or polearm or something?

Is the build written in the xbow guide good?

   Strength: 12
    Agility: 24
    Hit points: 47

    Power Strike: 4
    Athletics: 5
    Riding: 8
    Horse Archery: 4
    Weapon Master: 8

    Crossbow: 172

Yeah, shield would take up another slot. Best to use 2 stacks of bolts, imho. You could also try the arabian cavalry sword, the 105 lenght and good cut damage is pretty cool.

Arabian cav sword is difficulty 13, he can't use it.

Arabian Arming Sword or Scimitar are decent cheap options. Elite Scimitar is probably the best, but it is also unnecessarily expensive for a build that will rarely use it. You can even go with an Arabian Straight Sword for budget mode.

Yes, it's a fine build. Go ahead and follow it. It allows you to use Light Crossbow on horse, and Heavy Crossbow for those maps where horse isn't a good option (most city maps).

Once you reach high levels, before you raise your Crossbow WPF above ~160-165, stop and think about whether you really want a marginally smaller crosshair, or if you want to be slightly better with the 1-hander. You might want to consider putting 50-100 WPF into 1-hander at that point, at the cost of only a few points of Crossbow WPF.

Yeah, with only 4 PS and no WPF you will glance like crazy if you're not on your horse.
