They had no qualms slaughtering other Europeans for interpreting the bible differently, why would they have a problem enslaving or killing savages who practiced paganism and cannibalism? There were 0 redeeming qualities about these newly encountered people, only unprovoked hostility and rampant barbarism, they hadn't even invented the wheel yet after 1000's of years.
