The server is located on a major ley line. The air crackles with magic there. During peak ley line walker hours the interference can mess with any form of magnetic storage including hard drives.

If you want it fixed there is only one solution. You must wander the deep woods and murder as many druids and witches as you can. This will be much easier if your party includes a cleric who can cast the miracle Silence, or an ordained mage-hunter of fourth level or higher with an active Antimagic Field.
