What is the truth about XP?

Yes, I have searched the forums for an answer to this. However, many of the posts date back to previous versions and almost every reply about this issue contradicts each other. I want a straight, honest, answer that everybody KNOWS is real.

What is the highest level possible?

In previous versions it appears to be 35, however some people now say 36-37. Some say that you cannot reach 38 because a cap is set on XP. Others say it is possible, but you must spend 500 years to do it. And yet others say that your stats reset or something after a certain point...

So what is the HIGHEST possible level you can possibly ever reach without hitting a cap or having your stats nerfed?

NO RUMORS PLEASE. NO STORIES ABOUT KESH OR CRPG LORDS. I just want the facts from a crpg tech expert.
It was fun while it lasted.

No, it means that there is no cap. "You can get to 39 but it will take you 500 years" is the correct answer. To get to level 39 requires over 5 billion xp. Basically once you hit level 37, leveling up starts to become really ridiculous (as if getting to 37 wasn't bad enough already), with level 38 taking years to get to (I haven't retired in 2+ years, and with max gen bonus I'm still not level 38).

The highest level to be reached in the old leveling system was 37, and after the high level patch that wasn't even 1/5 of the way to level 39 after that guy played constantly for 4 years. So it literally takes 20 years of near-constant playing to get to level 39. Level 40 would require a total of 44 or so years, no doubt. And so on...

The only cap on your level is how long this game your life lasts.

Thank you, this is how I figured it worked, but I heard a lot of mixed rumors.

What do you mean 'or'?

Kesh IS, and always will be, the one and only cRPG-Lord.

In fact so Lordlike, the new game will be called
"Melee: Battlegrounds - Director's Kesh's Cut"
For all the non-believers, look no further than this thread for proof that while strat battles are won/lost in NA3/EU3, strat wars are won and lost on the forums.
