polecav can use lances, good vs other cav, mediocre on foot

1h cav is great for bumpslashing and also does well on foot if you get the right build

2h cav is not very effective on a horse, but can do pretty good on foot

one handed is really fun, one problem you're gonna have though is fighting lancers, you learn ways to take them down of course, but you have to take alot of risks, trying to avoid a lance and getting a hit in is rather difficult when the lance seems to be knowhere near you and all it takes is a splinter to kill you, a good tactic is trying to get in front of them and have them bump into you, then again, sometimes the horse seems to magically glide through you even then, but the satisfaction of killing a lancer is just too great...

I'm assuming it would be better to spec 100% polearm with a heavy lance and bec in case you get knocked on to foot.

I agree with pollux, but due to the heavy costs of having both a horse, armor and a bec, I'd reccomend having cheaper horses and weapons to use when gold is tight.

When it comes to STR vs AGI I'd go 18/18. (you didnt ask for this, but nvm)

if its youre first build you could try a 15/21 build with 7wm,  7athl z riding and 97 polearm fore lancing rest 1h (about 150 at lvl 30)

so you could try both and decied from there

I disargree with lancers being ineffective on foot, you can use a different weapon other than lance and be great on foot if you dont use shield.

1h is really fun but is much more limited as to what you can attack due to shorter range.
lance is best for sure.

you can make a 1h + HA and be more versitile but that wasn't really the posted Question

I did 15str/21agi lance build but put the majority of my points in 1h, cuz I cant block.  Had 90 in polearms and had fun but it wasnt my cup of team.

I'm going 18/18 this time with 6 in powerstrike and 140+ 1h so I can be close infantry support.  I keep enemy cav at bay and help kill heavily armored infantry.

If you wanna lance, the extra speed from 7riding may be worth it.

Hey...just got 1 question
Does anyone know if  putting more points into riding... above the requirement of your chosen horse is worth it

I use destrier and only need 4 riding ... shud i put my riding higher than 4.. if so why ?

I don't think IronFlesh or heavy armour on cav saves your ass cuz of the speed bonus most of the hits you take no matter if its ranged or melee will kill you, your horse or both of you most of the times therefore i always try to max my damage on horse and i use champ arabian war horse + lance + mighty GLA on my back. That build worked fine for me when i was a cav.I found playing light cav and hunting ranged from behind, flanking infantry etc more fun then riding your horse like you ride a panzerkampfwagen Tiger IV.
My fav. cav build :
