Recover Characters after format

Hey guys i've been looking a bit but i couldn't find the solution so i'm opening a thread.

So I formatted my computer and reinstalled M&B and cRPG but my characters aren't there anymore so i'm wondering if there is a way to recover them somehow.

Just make them anew in game. The characters are not in your computer, they are stored in a database, all you need to play them again is a character with the same name from within a game with the same key you used before.

Where's the file that stores what the character looks like - I want to port that between PCs??

Backup profiles.dat located in C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\Mount&Blade Warband.
