A couple of questions (Moving parts?)

Howdy,

I'm thinking about checking out the scene editor, and I've poked around some of the threads/videos about the scene editor.

I just wanted to ask a few questions before I take the plunge.

I used to do a fair amount of mapping for Quake/Halflife and related mods, so that's the lens through which I see this.

Is it fair to say that, speaking generally, the scene editor is all about shaping+texturing terrain, then adding in appropriate pre-fabricated objects (towers, buildings, etc)?

Does the MnB scene editor allow you to have moving objects? I know you can have prefab gates/ladders, etc. that move, but this isn't really what I'm after.

Is it possible to make an object (lets say, a prefab ship) move along a path?
(eg, it goes around in a circle from A to B, to C, to D to A

A   B

C  D

Is it possible to make the ground (land mesh?) move in game? (eg: live in game, a flat plain swells into a small hill)

Cheers!

If you have a general idea of your castle/village/whatever it is usually a better idea to start with the scene props and work your way around them with the ground. At least that is what i do. But you can do it the other way, too, depends on how you like it better.

Well, there are ladders, siege towers, gates and ehm...yeah xD

Siege tower is the only thing you can move along a path by using entry points.

And no, that is impossible.

Curses, my dreams of a "city with a canal that has a boat going round and round" map have been sunk!

Thanks for the speedy reply, though.

Now to come up with a new concept..

Warband Scene Editor is basically all about trying to circumvent the shit that the developers gave us. =D

Would it be possible to attach a prop to a siege tower that then moves along a given route, effectively making the item on top of it move?

Nope, because only the wheels and the siege tower prop are moving. As you see in strat, if you place construction sites or stuff like that in them and then move them the cs will stay where it is.
