Now that 2h penalties have been reduced, has anyone tried a build that is not 24/15 (like 21/18)? I'm going to try it in a STF but I'd like to know if anyone has some feedback.

We tested the damage quickly with a STF and it seems a bit OP now. Has the penalty been reduced or removed completely? 24/15 build can now kill a regular infantry build (tested against 24str, 5IF) in plate (63 armor) with one hit on the body with a Morningstar and a non-loomed Longsword seems to do the same damage as a loomed Arabian Cavalry Sword. Enough to kill most people with a well aimed first hit.

Buffing Morningstar was clearly not needed as it already was the go-to weapon on Strat for both 2H and 1H cav. And why would a 106cm, 1.8kg Longsword do a lot more damage than a 105cm 2.3kg ACS in one hand? Instead of damage the speed should have been buffed making 2H cav comparable to 1H.

2h with shield was made better, but 2h without shield wasn't made better afaik. It has always been insanely powerful. If anything, I thought the 2h/1h weapons such as longsword and morningstar without shield were slightly reduced in damage.

I damage tested 2h with shield using the in-game calc before the patch and the damage was quite pitiful compared to swinging without the shield (using appropriate wpf). At that time, 2h/1h weapons didn't have a penalty when used without shield.


Edit: To answer the question, strength against infantry, agility if you want all around utility / good speed bonus from horse and let you catch other cav.

Also, what's the best weapon(aside from morningstar, I refuse to use it) to use?

The 2h/1h split weapons are by far the best right now.

I have done 2H cav on my STF character a few times. There are a bunch of 2H weps that you can swing on horseback that have massive base damage. With speed bonus and good PS they hit like a truck. Persian war axe and persian battle axe are my favs. My current 2H char has a +3 long iron mace and that's fun on horseback. The two axes will destroy targets if you get decent speed bonus on your ride-by swing. Harder than couch/thrust with a lance, but you can catch people off guard since this is rarely ever done. Just avoid anyone with a spear who is aware of you. You'll get reared every time.
