I have a hybrid build (and one that won't be nearly as noobed up as my current one once I retire) and really have no issue getting kills with bodkins. You have to accept on some of the heavier armored opponents that you may only be getting the supporting shots on them in many cases, and sometimes you'll have a string where you're the one getting the killing shot on them. That's how it seems to work for me anyways, and I'm not anything special.
