Well, played it for about half an hour so far. I never played Quest for Glory, but Heroine's Quest plays like the standard old school adventure game (ala monkey island, full throttle, etc), but it's also an RPG. You get to pick a class at start, allocate some stats, choose skills that affect the gameplay. You can improve stats/skills during the game, as well as acquire gear/items. You also have to hunt for food and be wary of the cold weather, so there's a bit of survival in there as well. There's an interesting combat system included, different attacks, dodge, block, ... - that is playing as a warrior. Not sure how wizard/magician fights.
Considering it's a free game, I'd say it's pretty decent and worth a try, if you have time to spare.
