Backup spear for an axeman.

Hi guys, I have a polearm-axe character and Ive been thinking of buying him a spear as stabby anti cav weapon.
Ive noticed that the weapon lengths on polearms are a bit gimped and that even though a weapon says it has a long reach, the fact that the character holds it halfway negates most of it.
Can anyone recommend a good spear for this?
Definately needs to be sheathable though, unless you feel its so good at its job Ill never want to use my axe again :p

Thanks.

The longest sheathable is the Awlpike at 165 reach. It's not hard to take down horses with it, so give it a try.

The longest unsheathable is the Awlpike at 165 reach. It's not hard to take down horses with it, so give it a try.

this reply makes no sense.  Awlpike is not the longest UNstealthable and OP said he wanted something steathable.

No point in carrying something expensive when its mainly a deterrent to keep cav at bay or rear their horses (which you promply switch weapons then kill them).  So a pitchfork will do the job, and its fairly common place.

I find reach isnt as nearly important as speed, so I like shorten spear.

I just bring a pike instead of a shield on my polearm guy, play a bit of support at the start of the round. Poke over the shoulder of teammates and maybe poke a horse or two.

Then, when i don't have teammates around me to protect me anymore, i switch to my main polearm and automatically drop the pike. Often, i try to remember where i drop it so i can pick it up again if i want. Pike is still awesome.

The pitch fork takes only 1 slot, has good pierce damage but is very short.
The peasant scythe is quite long but has bad damage potential.
The red tassel spear is fast and has very nice pierce damage. It is sheathable and it does not appear in the back (surprise! surprise!). It is still a bit short.
Personally, I rely on the trident. It looks peasant but is a good compromise between length and damage.

They are all shorter than lances, so you can get owned easily if you don't pay attention. If you want to have a reliable anti-cav spear, you have to choose something that cannot be sheathed (pikes, awlpikes...).
